Did you ask them to increase the limit? They usually increase the limit (regardless of service) if you ask. The current limit is 40 instances and 5 read replicas per master. http://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonRDS/latest&#

For me, it is primarily about Postgres. If Google Cloud had an equivalent offering to Postgres RDS then I would seriously consider it. I think RDS is one area where AWS is significantly better than many of their competitors. You can use any

Slightly off-topic, but I thought this would be a good place to ask. Are there any word embedding tools which take a Lucene/Solr/ES index as input and output a synonyms file which can be used to improve search recall?

pgbouncer does not need to run on the same machine as the DB. It can run on an EC2 instance in front of your RDS instance.

Before ES 1.7.x, ES would lose data all the time. However they have made a serious effort to make it much more reliable. There are still some problems, but I haven't lost a significant amount of data in a long time (currently on 2.3.3)

If you are going to be a CEO then it is important to wear many hats in the beginning. It is important to understand the basics of accounting, law, sales, etc so that you have some idea what is going on with those aspects of the business whe

This is great! I would also like to see a short description of what the company does in the main list. It would make it faster for me to find relevant companies. For example, I have zero interest in working for a social media company. Given

If Postgres works for you then great, but it doesn't really compare to Solr/Elasticsearch. I haven't used Algolia so I cannot comment on it. Postgres is hard to use beyond very basic keyword searching and it doesn't supp

Slightly off topic, but I am curious if Elasticsearch could used instead for the cleaning and transformation stages? You only need to configure your index to get stemming, stop word removal, etc. It seems like it would take less time to imp

Fast is not how you win either as shown by the recent unicorns. The truth is that sometimes you need to go slow and sometimes you need to go fast. Actually I don't really like the term "slow" because it suggests laziness, bur
