I agree that at prices that are close to $1k, I'm not sure if Chromebooks make a lot of sense. I see the value of it for K-12 students when everything is done in Google Suites and the price is closer to the $500 range.

The amount was dependent on their seniority and a lot of people received bigger checks. Regardless, we can all argue if any amount was sufficient to compensate for limiting peoples' movement among these companies back then....

These companies (e.g., Intel, Google, etc.) also had to compensate their employees as a part of the settlement. Especially for people in engineering orgs, many of them received decent settlement checks.

Even if a project/company doesn't have a CLA, I don't think that is any sort of guarantee that their license won't change in the future.

Thanks for pointing that out. I've also seen missing "enterprise edition" labels in some MRs and can make a request to GitLab team members not to forget about the enterprise label.
