It would be interesting if instead of a simple keyword search to find incidents you could link related incidents in a graph model. Even better - do it real time as the incident is being recorded and addressed. Also incident trends over tim

I've been through probably 3 DOZEN layoffs so far in my career. If management comes in one day out of the blue and assures you there won't be layoffs I can 100% guarantee there will be soon. (Especially when it is an executive f

You can get some real headaches with auto-incrementing integers if you have to go to a multi-master or some other distributed system for data inserts. How do you know which integer to insert next for a table that is replicated across system

WRT running http over non-standard ports. I'm pretty sure one could write a chrome extension to make that transparent. Lest it be counter-blocked by the ISP, it seems like one could do a "spread spectrum" port hopping (with

Recently a famous AI project was shut down because it was inventing its own language. Perhaps the next generation programming language and design paradigms won't come directly from humans at all.

My understanding is that blockchain truth is determined via a majority vote. What I'm really not clear on is how someone with a botnet can't simply take over a blockchain. With such large sums of cash at stake, it seems like a s

What we need is a systems model that allows us to assess the overall health of a server in a single metric. Indicators of something under strain will reflect itself in the metric and draw our attention for further drilldown and analysis.

Why use a voting machine at all? Isn't the main point of having a polling location simply so you can verify your identity? If we could come up with a system that allowed one's identity to be verified online, or by postal service
