That looks like a great foobar replacement, why couldn't I find that when searching for mac music player, macos mp3 player, osx itunes alternative etc?

I'm going to try your app, despite my post, because I also believe in giving things a chance and leaving my mind open to change.

Yeah it's not as good as the windows version, but I'll take half baked foobar over itunes any day.

As a kid I desperately wanted a CDi, and then an Amiga CD32 and then a 3DO. I never got any of them. Having saved enough to finally buy a 3DO I was derailed at the last minute by my dad who didn't want me spending so much on a games ma

> However, one mum pointed out that her teenagers were just as bad, often choosing their phone over family time. What a stupid comment. She's basically excusing her own behaviour because her teenagers do it.

I'm typically the defender of electron on these threads. I think its a great way for devs to get an MVP out there quickly. But there is a time and a place for electron. electron good - IDEs, markdown editors, visual git clients, thin

Agreed that's definitely a drawback. Mozilla had an experimental project called qbrt that was like electron but used the locally installed Firefox, exactly like you're describing. Hasn't been updated in quite a while though

I think you're failing to include the firefox memory usage in that second example. the 200+MB memory of electron is because it includes the browser. Your 8MB file also needs firefox to run, so in a naked desktop environment the user fi

100x now? You're saying there are electron apps in the wild using 10GB of memory? I was trying to argue that the 10x claim was an exaggeration but you've just leapfrogged that.

> Slack is essentially a fancy IRC The keyword here is fancy. Hexchat is an IRC client, sure, but it is minimalist. That would be like comparing a text file to a PDF and asking why the PDF needs so much more RAM when they're basical

Have you sources for this 10x claim? Do you actually have a native slack client that uses 100mb because I'd love to see it.

The right tool for the job is very opinionated. Clearly an awful lot of desktop devs think js is the right tool for the job because electron is everywhere and projects like this very one we're commenting on exist. My opinionated view o

Why do you speak English when you could be speaking French? Because it's what you know, and lucky for you it's everywhere and you don't need to learn French. I'm making some assumptions about you as a person but you take

I've said it already on this thread but both MI and PotC, while influenced by each other (yes, MI is also influenced by the original pirates of the Caribbean ride) both have more in common with On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers. Ron Gi

I don't understand why this deserves a class action lawsuit. Sure, it's not a great design, but is it bad enough to sue over? All companies release flawed products all the time
