I've always found that it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission in a large bureaucratic technically simplified corporation, otherwise I'd get nothing done. Ask, and they say "no".

I think this clarifies things: "There is going to be some questions about this decision in relation to GNOME. I want to make something crystal clear: Ubuntu is a GNOME distribution, we ship the GNOME stack, we will continue to ship GNOME ap

You can still install it yourself... both Windows and Linux don't come with it already installed. I think that that is Jobs's point - if they bundled it, it was out of date by ship-time.

Try a true english tea like PG Tips - there's just no way you'll fall asleep after drinking a cup of that; the teabag is about 60% bigger than the average american teabag (one of those strange things is that teabags in america are smaller t

Tried it. Didn't work for my children. As the article says though, it's not for everyone. My kids are super-smart, but lazy, and unfortunately need structure. I homeschooled them for several years, but both of them asked to go to "real" sch

I fully agree with this one. By simply switching my blackberry to not buzz me when emails came in felt like a vacation. I realized at that point that I was close to burn-out.

Not if the idea sits in someone's head. The execution is extremely important. I've had ideas that pre-dated devices like the ipad and iphone by 15 years, but because I didn't do anything with those ideas, they were essentially useless.

But don't forget that America was having a hard time funding the war at that point. They had to end it quickly or they would have run out of money and given Japan time to rebuild their war machine.

I agree, but the article didn't contain any actual research figures, just a few suppositions (which made the inaccuracy stand out).

I spent a few days in a rinzai zen buddhist monastery in upstate New York about 3 weeks ago. I was also initially skeptical, and in a lot of pain. Doing the retreat with other newbies, and talking about the experience with the monks during

I think he was trying to get us to focus on not being called consumers first. Personally, I agree, it's an assumption that puts too much power in corporate hands. I agree with you as well, though, that it would require quite a large change

I think of the iPad as a kind of dumb terminal. An end-user device with limited uses. I don't think it will bring an end to other devices. The primary reason being that you have to create apps on something. Also, I see this as something con

It's all about money - if they start making more money on ipad-type devices, and less on osx-based devices, they'll start making more ipad-type devices. Follow that line of logic and you'd end up in the more restrictive world of the ipad-ty
