So many of the frameworks have shared code between macOS and iOS (e.g. MapKit, Foundation, Contacts etc..), so a perf fix in iOS pays dividends on macOS too. Perf changes are too numerous to mention, I’d recommend watching last year’s WWDC

I hope Apple currently has a team focused on macOS perf. I worked on the team in charge of improving iOS (13) perf at Apple and IIRC there was no dedicated macOS “task force” like the one on iOS. Luckily some iOS changes permeated into macO

You’re forgetting what was mentioned in the article: one of the 2 enemies can’t/isn’t printing money at the moment, and is sitting on a deflationary currency.

Here’s the more correct version: Before and during the war, up until the late 80’s, 1 USD was worth 3 Lebanese pounds (LBP). In the late 80’s (war ended in 90-91) the USD reached well over 1000 LBP, and reached 2500 LBP in 1992. In 1997, th

Other thermostats don’t learn your preferences. If anything, Nest gets in the way the first few weeks, then goes to the background. I’m talking about product UX, how a Nest thermostat usually works, independently of Google getting bored ;)

Close to “Perfect UX” is when technology is acting on your behalf, and you don’t even know it’s there . A good example of this is the Nest thermostat. After a few weeks you just forget it exists, and it does its thing in the background.

I’m from a town nearby. It’s a shame how the ruins have been left filthy and unattended. A Phoenician king’s tomb from multiple millenia BCE is littered with cans of soda and plastic bottles. When I brought friends from Europe to see Lebano

This is superb! You're almost at a point where this can be made into a browser extension, to include sites like Netflix, Hulu etc.. Also, please make it more like an actual movie theater were we could sit down and talk (audio chat).

Hey Alex, one suggestion, the HCaptcha challenge box is way to tall, sitting at 725px, it's larger than the chrome viewport on a 13" MBP, so I have to keep on scrolling up and down to solve the captcha.

I’m not too sure about algorithms? You can get away with making a working, performant (basic) engine with some neat functionality nowadays without delving too deep into algorithms or using any advanced data structures. It is a good exercise

The neat thing about config files is that they’re easily serializable and transferrable over the network, the file system etc.. A programming language can’t do that (or if it could via eval, it would be a bad idea)
