Touch-screens can be updated later, meaning you can release the broken version first, then get it working after the money starts rolling in. Knobs would require they get it right the first time. The horror! I will never buy a car that for

Not that I know of. I had a book I was trying a buy a couple weeks ago, everywhere I found it had DRM. So I gave up. They lost a sale.

by rolobio 3y ago
This is correct. My answer is simply to not buy any Kindle books. In the future, I may buy some again if I can strip DRM.

Absolutely. I wonder what percent of tweets or blog posts are even seen by one human?

Agreed. It is astounding to me that a private company can accuse me of a crime with no proof that I did it, and then the government will enforce that without question. You would think they would need fingerprints or something to prove that

Looks like the wireless charging assembly is serialized, not the literal glass. Very frustrating and anti-repair.

There was a similar situation when Google Fiber was rolled out in Provo Utah. Comcast essentially had a monopoly (they're the only ones allowed to put their cables on the power lines), they charge huge amounts for their internet, Goog

Agreed. I keep hearing about these record corporate profits, and I always ask "are they record profits after being adjusted for inflation?" I would bet that some of them are, but these companies want to claim record profits (will

I have a GQ 600-RPS and I love it. It detects alpha, beta and gamma. Detection range is only a few inches, so you have to know what to look for. We take it on family outings and search for uranium rocks.

I thought about creating one of these in the past, but it didn’t fit my needs. I decided to start my own project, called WROLPi. It also uses a Raspbery pi as its base, but also has a Debian installer. I have RPi images available at https:

SVB failed because they bought government bonds, typically the most secure thing. The problem is the Federal Reserve raised interest rates, which made the bonds pointless. They Fed will supposedly keep raising rates, which I expect will m

How can you tell when a video contains something misleading? For example, I struggle to find quality DIY videos without the dislikes warning me away. Dislikes are a great way for the community to clean house.

Thanks for the reply. Your comment about having it all behind one interface really resonates with my goals with WROLPi. I skimmed the link you provided. My goal is to do something similar, but use the Debian Blu-ray ISOs. Debian provides IS

I don't think this will last. The poachers will respond by killing these elephants; better to kill any tusk-less elephant to avoid wasting time tracking it again in the future.

I don’t understand what atoms have to do with gender. It is not inclusive to call a woman a “birthing person” it’s actually excluding the women who can’t give birth. Are women who can’t become pregnant men? Of course not. We have let polit

No one is denying exceptions exist. Humans have two arms. Anything else is an exception to the rule, but the rule still applies.

There is absolutely a consensus (well, there was until about 5 years ago). People point at exceptions to prove the rule is entirely false. How many arms do humans have? Two. “Well my uncle was born without arms! So clearly humans have an
