Bitcoin and it's ilk are the perfect tool for government control. At first I was on board (be my own bank? sure, they're corrupt) but then someone pointed out that the Fed will simply use the technology built by these people to c

The Nord Stream 1 pipeline from Russia to Europe is currently off. Its a planned maintenance however. But what if they run into "issues" and the maintenance takes a few weeks? A month? Pure speculation of course, but these thin

Probably because the governments like being able to purchase/subpoena private information about their constituents from FB? It is an amazing surveillance tool from the government’s perspective.

You can add custom words so that your iOS device will suggest them. Go to Settings, search for Text Replacement, add a new replacement with +, enter the same word for both replacement and shortcut.

I was blown away when the president claimed he "has never seen anything like Putin’s tax on both food and gas". When did Putin get the ability to raise taxes in the US??

I see this as well. I’ve been noticing this more often. Very annoying.

I recently found these too. Very handy! Got some for ~$8 delivered on AliExpress. The ones I got only work with USB-C with PD (won’t fallback to micro usb for example) but I’m in love. It’s so handy to know I’m charging at maximum speed.

Did not know about functools.singledispatchmethod, this could lead to some clean code in specific situations. I know I’ve missed overloading a few times!

The fact that your comment is being downvoted is why we need more free speech. The above comment is simply a biological fact. Many people are stuck in echo chambers that make them think their fringe opinions are from the majority, Twitter

Am I the only one who has gotten very tired of this meme? I laughed at a few of them, but now its just everywhere it seems.

I'm not so sure. The dependabot has been helpful on occasion, when it doesn't spam me too much.

Locally mostly. Also, surprisingly on walmart.com. Edit: Also from manufacturers' websites.

Had they actually had a backdoor, I would have unplugged it from the internet. Clearly the scammer did not have a backdoor.

Amazon US used to be as you describe. But now its mostly just cheap knockoff stuff. I hardly purchase there anymore. Its really sad because they used to have such a wide selection.

Had this happen to me when I was in IT. I got a cold transfer of an angry customer who wanted to talk to a guy who had a very similar name. I told the customer that they wanted the other guy, I was in the wrong department, and they wouldn’t

I nearly got taken by a scammer because Amazon transferred me to one. I purchased a set of Reolink cameras on Amazon, (they've been great) one of them failed a couple months in. I contacted Amazon customer support (via my Amazon logi

I’ve found that a 32” QHD monitor is the highest PPI my eyes can comfortably read. I tried to use a 4K TV as my monitor, but I needed something like 55” up close to read it comfortably. It was simply too large and I had to move my neck too

You really don't need an expensive shelter. It comes down to the amount of dirt between you and the nuclear fallout particles. Every 3.6 inches (9.1cm) of well packed earth will halve the gamma rays that make it to your body. So, wi

Thank you for the archive. A deviation from the article, has anyone had success with the "download .zip" button on these archive sites? I have tried several (over months) and I only get a 404.

In Python you can force the use of a parameter’s name with * def my_sleep(*, seconds: int): pass my_sleep(seconds=3) This will force those who use your function to use the parameter name. A sort of documentation I suppose.

Rather than ban the device, punish the behavior. Apple has made it quite easy for anyone with an Apple device to notice if they are being tracked. Why punish someone tracking their scooter as if they were tracking some "daughter"

Should I drive over a thousand miles to pull it off? What do you expect me to do? I'm not sure what will happen if I disown it, it will probably attempt to be owned by whoever walks by? Can I disown an AirTag without being near it?
