I agree with your general sentiment. When Github first showed up, I really liked it that (unlike on e.g. SourceForge) the username is right in the project's URL, it suggested that someone's accountable for the project. But there&#

Yep, real-world HLS/DASH solutions rely heavily on edge caches; you don't care as much about having your infra in the right region, but POPs are everything. Netflix famously offers ISPs an appliance.

That's not Go-specific, it's just how static linking works. As nolist_policy advised, it's more useful and precise to intercept programs at the syscall (rather than library call) boundaries. Programs are free to do all sorts

Exactly. POS terminals are optimised for throughput. Otherwise it's literally less sales, your bottom line. You can build a perfectly snappy, keyboard-driven GUI application; a terminal emulator is (ironically) the perfect example.

I see, thank you for debunking. But I think my general point still stands. You can progress by addressing a need, but true innovation requires adequate space.

I would love to help bring elegance and beauty to the software we build, both on the inside and outside - and that's my main motivation behind criticising terminals and TUIs specifically. I have vague ideas for how I could build someth

Interesting project, but you still need to hook it up to a backend to create a window to draw pixels on. SDL is likely the most portable library to do that; you could substitute fbdev, DirectX, wgpu, glfw, win32, metal, and so on. The point

For entire classes of applications, you can treat Linux as a black box. Things like syscalls, /proc & /sys, are all incredibly stable. So that's what Go does with its syscall package; it completely sidesteps libc, ld.so,
