No didn't mean to imply that, but tech companies are looking for some unicorn of young with a ton of relevant experience. Young is because ... they can pay them less. My point is they have someone in mind for these "senior" p

Most people working at companies, especially in leadership positions, are entirely focused on their career. I've seen this multiple times. At my last company tech leadership was dumb enough to "say the quiet thing" and got in

They want senior+ who are <35yo, but then when they interview the 35yo for a senior position, they give them an offer for a non-senior role so they can pay them less.

They knew how the product worked (they used the product) they just did not interact with devs - so they didn't really get the implementation. Their only opinions there were formed from leadership who was very biased with what they want

If you want a figma, I'd prefer if you worked with a dev before making it, then also worked with them after making it, to get on the same page. Creating a design out of whole cloth and handing it over to a dev, with minimal interaction

Yeah, and most of the maintainers have largely quit now because of abuse from John Buckman. I think Mimoja contributes occasionally but not in a large capacity.

I agree with these points. Someone mentioned the PPT method - and I like it for your reasons! It's like a wireframe.

I don't think it's a trust thing, but yes - I think leadership not knowing what they want is a big part of it.

I like the PPT - it is more like a wireframe! Yes, similar to the photoshop days. I forgot all about those. Has been almost 10yr since I had that happen! PPT doesn't bother me because it's very "what we need" not "h

Has anyone else worked with teams where their entire idea of "product" was to create 100s of designs in Figma, and then just hand them to developers? What started this mentality?

Decent proved that they can't do a good job at software and don't really have a vision or intention to do well. The owner's proposed "fix" for TCL is a rewrite using "vanilla javascript" using little or no

I didn't say it wasn't obvious in ALL CASES. And even in those cases there are language and communication issues that make it not obvious. Someone who doesn't speak English for example may use a tone that comes across as infl

There's big problems with both downvoting and flagging: you don't know WHY people are doing it. Without that, you can't correct behavior.

HN has a problem that it rejects "shaming" in the community. I think you can shame people in a way that isn't completely abusive, and even instructive. Shame exists for a real reason in communities - but it only works if the
