Not understanding something isn't a judgement of others. Laptop keyboards are: 1) Too small 2) Have awful ergonomics otherwise Laptop screens: 1) Are too small 2) Are positioned awfully with regards to the laptop There are a lot of oth

I agree to the point that whenever I see someone with a laptop I often wonder, "how much work are you actually getting done on that thing?" I've known people who exclusively work on laptops, no keyboard, sometimes no mouse. H

"chair umbrellas" work really well. They have a clip that attaches to your chair.

Isn't that true of many languages?

pip installing one thing is usually not a problem. You can do the binary thing with Python for sure. Does Lisp really work much better? Part of the issue with Python is versions of the language. So you really shouldn't be installing pa

Yes, wet bulb temp is in the context of humidity. Apparently 95f or 35c is the "limit" for humans - where many people will have health issues if they can't cool off otherwise.

These issues are going to impact livestock around the world - which is a big contributor to global warming. I suppose some issues are self-correcting.

At a certain wet bulb temp humans cannot cool themselves off - they die without access to some other means to get cool (like cold water, air conditioning, etc).

I'd be careful buying into the "whys" here, as I'm not sure they are qualified to come to these conclusions. It seems speculation. However, the data seems to be real...

"You can't get better by scaling out" disagrees with you. That's my point - if you scale out, it's more expensive.

Necessity is an amazing thing: at a company I worked for, the dev team (which I was a part of) "couldn't make things cheaper" than $14k/m for a small app. We spun them into their own org, and now its "their money&qu

That's only really reasonable if you use a truck only a few times a year, honestly. Otherwise it's not reasonable: renting a car isn't extremely easy, often you need the truck for a few days, etc.. But I agree: many people ow

Well, I agree with you, but to be fair this isn't everyone that owns a truck. If you own a truck and use it even 20% of the time for its intended use - it's probably ok. But you'll see that truck in a lot of supermarket parki

The goal of reddit here is to obviously shut down the app, he was saying "just pay me then" - he's obviously annoyed. Stupid thing for him to say for sure, it shut the "negotiation" down.

So the whole raise-api-cost was in fact intended to just shut these apps down, and isn't to recoup costs, like Reddit is saying? That means Reddit entered in bad faith - at that point you can't fault Apollo for reacting to that ba

Right, I think some people are like this. For example, I had a boss once that would interpret everything I said as a threat (I had a friendship with the owners of the company). It's just, stupid, and insulting.

Christian was extremely awkward during that call - no way this guy was making some underhanded threat. He spoke in a poor way for sure.

Why misquote? He said "have Apollo quiet down" not "go quiet" he only said "go quiet" after the Reddit rep said that, in response. At least have your facts straight.

That isn't what he claims later in the call. He claims that he'd shut down the app for $10m. How is that unreasonable?
