In two's complement, -2 means all bit are 1, except for the lowest. 1 is all bits are zero, except for the lowest. So it's basically the same, just negated. If you look at the generated code, this is used to the opposite: Keep al

Tested it! In C: https://godbolt.org/z/7xTrhGasc GCC uses &1 even using -O0. LLVM using -O0 still does the modulo, but at -O1 it does a clever &-2. And even C#: https://godbolt.org/z/5WPfT8

Yes, but a lot of the cool, new DBs use LSM trees. The post we're currently discussing also spends more time explaining LSM trees + WAL, than it does B-trees. But your point is still valid. :)

I like the design, but I'm unsure who the target audience is. If it's target at complete beginners, it's a bit of a rough start, I think. In the first chapter, it explains how tcp is different from ip and udp, and only later

I think the "puzzle" is just translating from your current mental model into one that fits the language. That's why the author sees roughly Algol-like languages as non-puzzle languages, and all other styles are puzzle languag

The link you added directly contradicts you. It says static builds on windows require the Visual++ tools. They aren't that hard to install. This one is on you. If I remember correctly, for certain things rust also needs the visual C++

Congrats on launching this! The way this works is very clever. Could be fun for showing prototypes to others, testing, etc.

I'd also love import from LinkedIn. Might be possible to do it client side by loading the .pdf generared by LinkedIn's CV export. There is also a browser extension to get a LinkedIn CV as json, maybe you could load that?
