Sure, but those people don't want GC either. Not to say that all languages that are not C++ are garbage collected, but the people who complain about manual memory mgmt are not the ones who care about those things.

Me too. I've been writing pretty much only C++ for 20 years, and if I'd go back and count, I think I'd have maybe a dozen times where I used new/delete, none of those in the last 10 years. Like all languages that are act

Nobody cares what people think they want. In 5 years you'll be able to play AAA games on a $500 pc, pay by minute, and it'll be the only way to play them, and people will. Grudgingly, maybe, but they will. Everything on the server

There is so much confusion in this thread as to what this is about, I think we should bring out our famously flawed tech analogies. Say the IEEE writes a standard for a networking protocol. It's full of arcane acronyms and technical de

I'm not sure what you mean by '2D graphics package', so it may be a semantics thing here, but DirectDraw was a 2D graphics API on top of DirectX. I only used it a bit and didn't find that for my uses, the added complexit

For those of us in the GIS space, 2.7 will be with us for a long time, as it's the only version that is supported by ArcGIS 10.x series. To say that people aren't rushing to ArcGIS Pro (which support 3.x) is quite an understatemen
