AFAIK, Riak search is suppose to be drop-in replacement for Solr http://lucene.apache.org/solr/ . So anything that wraps that API would be easy to migrate to Riak Search later.

Latency is also a multipart problem, right? The software can always attempt to improve it's response time, but it can't change the latency on the wire.

Greenhouse looks interesting. I'd be intersted in seeing how it stacks up against Atlas. Can anyone offer insight?

The SEC should have gone with JSON or YAML rather than XML though, as long as we're trying to keep things readable. Otherwise I applaud this requirement for filing. I would love to run to track the history of all submissions over time and s

This does sound like a panacea. My father says "if it's too good to be true, it probably is." However, having the CIA and Navy as customers is pretty credible.

I agree with the sentiment on the thread that removing http:// is a UX bug. Copy & Paste in this case is paramount over UI simplification. Keep it simple... do not make it a configurable option and do not remove http:// .

Justin (CTO of Basho) gave a phenomenal presentation (keynote worthy) at NoSQL East. Vector clocks are easy and once he explained it in the presentation it "clicked" for me. You can watch the whole presentation here, but if you want to get

Hmm, it's not really the difference between continuous and scheduled... Basically, Couch is a shared-nothing system, meaning, it retains all the data on one node. Then you can easily replicate (say via scheduled task w/ cron) the data fro

Riak creates vnodes, or virtual nodes for each node. These vnodes make up what's called a ring server. So you may have 1024 vnodes in say, 4 bare-metal nodes. I pointed this presentation out below, but I'll point it out again, because it's

Are you familiar with the CAP theorem? You can't have all three, but you can have 2. Most distributed datastores, pick for you which two of the three you'll get. One of Riak's goals is to make the choice transparent to the user per documen

Riak is actually a distributed datastore, where as CouchDB & MongoDB are replication based. For example, there are no special nodes in Riak and no one node has all the data. When a node joins a riak cluster, it begins to share and part

Short answer is: no, not at the moment. MongoDB & CouchDB have a lot more history as open source project. Riak, being recently released into the wild, will have its various how-tos and documentation grow in time. But lets say you wante
