In many cases, because both overlap with geographical features: the Carpathians in Romania, the Pontic-Caspian steppe in Ukraine, the green mountainous Portugal north of the Tagus vs the flat "montado" landscape to the south.

If your process to install a specific Python version for a project, independent of system Python, is as fast and simple as `pyenv install 3.9.7`; and if you don't work in a team where having `.python-version` file in the project will d

I don't disagree with you but pyenv is just nvm for Python. You use it to manage multiple Python versions without touching the system Python, which tends to get people into trouble.

pyenv helps you install and manage those multiple python versions.

This list is personal and far from exhaustive (which is fine). If I quickly scanned looking for things I care about, I'd find very little. However, as a Linux user I could very quickly come up with an equally long list of things that I

> "Lauren Carroll Harris is a writer and curator." Current generations were sold on the promise that you can be what you want. That you have the right (and almost the duty) to follow your passion. In reality the game is rigged.

I can't speak for NewMountain but I assume he was talking about using a DI framework or container (e.g. Spring) where dependencies are defined declaratively and the framework handles the instantiation. This is what brings the indirecti

Yes I clicked but didn't notice the Greek overlay. It's neat. I imagine that it can be useful for math, if you're not using something like LaTeX or Emacs already. I even have something similar in my custom layout, although it

That looks like an "AZERTY International", with no advantage over the Portuguese layout for programming, and no advantage over "US International" for typing languages other than French. It does look like an improvement o

This explanation makes little syntactic sense. A bit of googling gives me the explanation of "ferreira" being an old word for "iron mine", which to be honest is coherent with modern portuguese forms like "pedreira&q

For some reason the version in Portuguese is Ferreira (the feminine form), not Ferreiro. No idea what the reason is. I somehow doubt that medieval Portugal was exceptionally gender-progressive.

Personally, I got into Org-roam a couple of years ago, which solved most of my issues with Org-mode. I don't see any reason to change in the future unless there's a fundamental change in my life. Bi-directional links are awesome.

Org-mode can do number 3 as well: https://github.com/rexim/org-cliplink Can't argue with it being confusing. It takes some effort in the beginning until one day you realize that your mind blended with the machine.

Moving a lot served me as a recurring reminder of the burden of stuff, but it's not the only way that it materializes. Stuff takes space, stuff adds clutter, some stuff requires administrative overhead, most stuff requires maintenance.

Nice to hear about your experience, sounds like a good use case. I briefly considered it to allow better food pairings in small dinners. The marginal benefit wouldn't justify the cost of ownership for me, though.
