You might want to check out Arcadia[0], a Clojure library for Unity game development. It's all done with ClojureCLR and it's pretty cool. Not saying you want to do game development, but they've definitely got a working produc

My mouse is actually critical to how I use i3 - I've got a lenovo thinkpad usb keyboard, with the left, middle, and right mouse buttons below the spacebar and the red nub for the pointer. I use focus-follow-mouse and when I need to cha

The halting problem states that it's impossible to know if computation will terminate in the general case, but there are lots of specific cases where we can prove that it will terminate. The Idris language compiler (think haskell with

cljfx is actually inspired on fn-fx, and presents a much cleaner and more usable api, just by comparing the docs. I'm pretty sold on data-based apis instead of macro-based ones, though, so maybe it's just catering towards my prefe

I know about revery[0] and cljfx[0], though I haven't had the chance to use them in anger. These both seem like very nice approaches to me - I'm partial to cljfx because I've been utterly spoiled by the clojure/script de

This actually seems like it would be pretty good on something like the Librem 5! I like the idea of a tiling-esque window manager with this level of flexibility, especially on a phone. The launcher/sidebar/fitting/pinning

I disagree. Suppose you have an election with 3 candidates that runs every year. If you predict candidate A win at 33% confidence, but that candidate gets elected every year, your calibration will be way off. Calibration is about aggregatin

I don't think you can. If you give every candidate a 1/n probability in winning, but the actual true probability is less than 1% (I'm looking at you, Vermin Supreme[0]), then your calibration is going to be way off. Good cali

That's what's got me excited - they've managed to articulate a vision for the future that I'm totally on board with: decentralized, privacy respecting, and user owned. I really want to see that vision become a reality.

Oh, I don't know if I was unclear but it can definitely do web. The mobile story is a bit more hazy (I think mainly accessed through React Native wrappers), but the web is a first class, I would argue best-class, use case for Clojuresc

Nope! Usually if I need ui I reach for Clojurescript, but if I need something "native" I go for cljfx[0], a wrapper of javafx. But it's so much better than javafx - you get a really nice repl-driven, live coding plaform with

For what it's worth, I've been writing Clojure since 2013 and I can count the number of times I've had to write interop code on one hand. And in those cases it was a wonderful escape hatch! That's probably more reflectiv

In my experience, it works just fine. Clojure for the frontend is the best-in-class frontend dev environment that I've worked with. Instant hot code reloading, a browser-connected repl, great debugging tools, and a really nice collecti

You can live that dream in clojure land! Clojurescript on the front end, Clojure on the backend, and datalog/honeysql for the database if you'd like. And it is awesome! After using a stack like this I'm spoiled for the slog t

I think their point is that it's the ability to express relational algebra in a natural way that's important, and the static/dynamic types thing is orthogonal to that.

I guess I don't really understand this. Even without the old extension apis, it's still more powerful than anything Chrome has to offer. You don't get the access you want, so you go to something with even less access?

I think "don't break anyone's code" > "break code but tell user about" > "silently break code". Rich Hickey has very strong feelings about breaking other people's code, and I tend to agree

In clojure, you can do this with as->, but there are reasons to be careful. Stuart Sierra has a great (brief) article about it[0]. The long and short of it is that it's really easy to change the "type" of an expression as
