that's not the url though. the sub-domain in the image is "protected-users" - which makes no sense, btw.

Yea, that checks out. I don't think I've ever had good experience with Chinese companies. It is like 90% of the product is marketing and form, rather than function. I bought some robotics stuff from a Chinese company. It became

It has really gotten so bad. I get so much reddit spam lately. In a lot of cases reddit can be a great... but man, the astroturfing has gotten insane.

Makes sense. I used to have a youtube channel that got a few age-restricted videos (for absolutely silly reasons). Reps from youtube would swear up and down that age-restrictions wouldn't effect your video's ranking in the algor

for someone far removed from SEO, what are the true (non-sensationalist headline) effects of this leak?

Reading through that... seems incredibly vague and provides ample opportunity to selectively enforce at a whim. Seems like a bad omen for the AI industry (at least in CA). Imagine what they'll do when some nut job asks an open source

I agree on principal and instinct... but then I realize how often people add quotes from Wikipedia or 1st or 2nd results from a google search. Maybe most of the bad vibe comes from the "wall of text" and "tone" ChatGPT o

This is 1000% the reason. It almost self-selects for the worst type of people. You not only have to have tons of free time, you have to be willing to be "paid" for your work in the small amounts of power you can wield in an onlin

If they're putting life changing amounts of money into a company they should be doing a modicum of research on it. If someone gives $100k to a Nigerian prince, I don't think the US government should be spending thousands of dolla

Because time and time again the government does. While hypocritical its a perfectly logical step to take because it has proven success.

I too think that people underestimate how much prison would absolutely suck. Especially if you lead a life that is otherwise crime-free.

Those people are mostly hypocrites. Your complaint would be solved with less gray area. Businesses outside of the US should be able to do business with US citizens _without_ the consent of the US government. This comes with the caveat that

Don't know why this is controversial. I lived in the NOVA area for more than a decade and each visit to Baltimore (every few years) was more depressing. Of course, that's anecdotal but I'll stand by it.

I think so too. I could be wrong but I believe once it generates an image it tries to work with it. Crazy how it seems the "text" model knows how wildly wrong it is but the image model just does its thing. I asked it why it gen

I mean, I asked it for a samurai from a specific Japanese time period and it gave me a picture of a "non-binary indigenous American woman" (its words, not mine) so I think there is something intentional going on.

Yea. Just ask it anything about historical people/cultures and it will seemingly lobotomize itself. I asked it about early Japan and it talked about how European women used Katanas and how Native Americans rode across the grassy plain
