A possible goal is to have the serving stack be as simple as possible. After all, you can argue that the publishing-side stack is anyway very complex: it includes e.g. the Github UI, if one makes edits using the Github UI.

IANAL It might be relevant if the person allegedly committing a crime and the person making the supposed crime harder to discover are the same person. In your case they are, in Uber's case they aren't (AFAIK).

I think you are underestimating expansion ratios (ratio of volume of liquid and gas at reasonable pressure). The ratio for water vapour at sea level is ~1000x. The "large bag" might end up being so large that it's weight is a

Which way of passing the password to the browser is better? If I use the clipboard, many apps can read it (there's no foreground-only clipboard permission on Android). If I let the password manager be my accessiblity service, I've

If they used asan/msan and its support for manually marking regions of memory as invalid/uninitialized, that could have caught such cases too.

I'd imagine that mail services of other countries would refuse to accept mail from a country where it's legal to send mailbombs. If they didn't, I'd expect them to be at least somewhat liable for the ensuing explosions.

I can't quite imagine what failure modes were they thinking about. Those failure modes must have had a nonnegligible chance of lighting off _both_ SRBs, but a very small one of lighting off a single SRB.

This is a system which is guaranteed to be consistent and available as long as there are no partitions. If there are partitions, the system isn't guaranteed to be either. Yes, it's a pretty much useless system.

A CA system is not a system that doesn't have partitions, it's a system that works under the condition that there are no partitions (ie. it is a non-partition-resistant system).

I'm not sure about US, but in many places a part of copyright that cannot be given away is the right to be publicly named as an author of the work (in particular, the right to prevent other people being falsely named as authors of the

Another interesting point is that ease of opening the hatch was a tradeoff that was pushed back and forth by (near) accidents. Mercury had a pyrotechnic hatch release mechanism. That triggered accidentally on Mercury-Redstone 4, which cause

The same systemic problems caused the loss of Challenger: the reason why SRBs were segmented was that they had to be transported over rail from another state, instead of over barge from a nearby factory. Arguably the loss of Columbia was al

Also, on the way down during landing, the capsule let in external air once external air pressure was larger than internal. This way they avoided having oxygen at atmospheric pressure inside at that time.

HTTP is standardized, but lots of stuff doesn't follow the standard in the areas that didn't use to matter. Then we get problems like this: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=61621

The problem is not only not recording audio, but also not accidentally recording enough data to reconstruct words spoken. Silence detection on a sufficiently short timescale might allow you to guess sentences.
