Docker has been on the wishlist for a while but it seems like the developers refuse to integrate it. I just installed docker-ce manually and added portainer as a systemd service. That way I can manage containers with a 2nd webui.

Yeah that nag is my only nitpick with Proxmox. It's a bit too much in the face everytime I login. You can easily disable it with a code snippet, but I think the devs should just advertise the non-subscription model differently.

I've been running proxmox since v3.0 with lots of success. I admit that back then you could break stuff easily if you did not know what you're doing. Over the time I've been running it continuously with every version in my ho

That's pretty sad to see as someone who grew up in just the right time to see the spark of the internet hit the world and uniting so many people. I just hope that the people unite at some point and create a community driven network lik

As someone who worked in a similar section (animation), this is great news. Autodesk tools (especially Maya) are way too expensive in what they deliver. I'm glad many big studios realized this in that they either build their own tools

Not for the pi specifically, but if you want a simple FileServer, then a debian (raspbian) samba setup is pretty much done in a few minutes: https://wiki.debian.org/SambaServerSimple Storage could be attached via USB3 or yo

Maybe it's NVIDIA blocking the way? If Linus is correct, then they are not a nice company to work with.

I remember the famous video where Linus said that Nvidia has been the single worst company he ever had to work with. I assume it's not just the linux kernel, but also companies like apple.

We all make mistakes, don't we? I'd rather tell them now to switch back as long as they can before we're stuck with google.

GitBook is nice and I would recommend that if you want something that works good for you out of the box. I personally write markdown files with typora and then publish that to my own notes setup, which is simply mkdocs and some tweaks.

I'd like to throw my datacurator-filetree[1] in here, which is aimed at the datahoarders among us and it's what my system is roughly based on. I welcome help and contributions :) [1] https://github.com/roboyoshi&#x

I think NFS requires to have some knowledge for how you want to use it. The defaults seem reasonable, but I also get confused with all the v3/v4 differences etc. I use it at home to connect everything to my NAS and it works very well f
