This is what I learned. This is what I use. It's nice to have more options though. Unfortunately that makes it all the more confusing.

It probably is better, because Apple switched from Cassandra to FoundationDB, according to all the rumors http://www.businessinsider.com/why-apple-bought-foundationdb... . But as we know Apple they probably won't tell

Lossless means that the data is compressed on a bit-level. Has nothing todo with encoding. Similar to WinRAR and ZIP, it probably uses a compression algorithm specific to cloudflare storage to serve the video faster?
