In Ben's defence, I doubt he's the only one who wouldn't have thought to check the whois data. I wouldn't have, for a start. There should have been an obvious contact email linked on the site itself for issues, not just a Twitter account.

I'm surprised at the lack of "innovative" new captcha ideas targetted towards mobile devices. "Spin your phone clockwise 3 times and lick the screen to prove you're not a robot"

Back when I was 14 I played quite a lot of Phantasy Star Online on the Xbox (which had a very small community). My voice broke a year or two beforehand, and I was pretty respectful and eloquent. I had people constantly looking to me for adv

Regrettably, this is my most popular piece of code I've released: a ruby gem for parsing a goddamn stupid text format used only by the website Rightmove. I pity the poor fools who have needed to use it. https://github.com/robotmay/blm

Oh absolutely, if they updated it to be based on modern farming then everyone would have significantly less acreage :D But you'll find that with most imperial measurements; they're based on physical objects or systems of measuring which mak

Other measurement systems definitely have their uses though. Many older measurements still exist due to them being easier to estimate with; e.g. an acre being the amount of land you could plow in a day. And you'll never have the British dri

It's not quite as stable yet. First time I played it ran flawlessly (and at the same speed as it does under Windows). Since then I've had a few issues like excessive screen tearing and missing audio, but they're not too bad for what is stil

I've been recommending Sidekiq to people for the past few months and it's great to see it being picked up by more projects. It's quicker than Resque for everything I've tried it on.

Porting TF2 was a nice touch (and I have it installed on my Linux partition for a quick lunchtime game whilst working) but I need quite a few other games to be ported before I could consider using it more often. Give it a few years though;

I never got used to that, it seemed totally backwards to me. I can deal with it on a screen where my finger is (almost) physically attached to what I'm scrolling, but not on a detached mouse/trackpad and display.

Not really our government's fault though; to their credit they did actually try and fight it a bit. IIRC our regulation (in the UK) has a few differences from the EU one.
