I'd consider that reasonably servicable, but then I did once replace a hard disk in a G4 iBook. 56. 56 goddamn screws.

How good is Ubuntu support out of the box on the X1? I love the look of it as a replacement for my MBP, but I've found compatibility information a bit scarce. EDIT: Just found your other post! That's really cool that is has such good suppor

Mine also very specifically crashes on the Linux version (but not OS X or Windows) when I try to search on http://ukulelehunt.com , which is rather odd. I did report it but I really don't know what's causing it.

I only ever use it outside, and rarely at that (I normally use open fires or an alcohol stove these days), but thanks for the link :)

   I can't believe I didn't know this :\

Ukulele player here, I would also like this (though I suppose I could just tab out the bottom 4 strings) :)

Capo's pretty good but I find it quite labour intensive to put the tabs in.

Yep, love my very simple Mondaine Evo. The thing's crazy readable; I can read it in the very lowest of light conditions and from steep angles too.

I laughed out loud on first reading this sentence (it could use an extra capital letter): "A German shepherd spent a year biting on a ball. In every case, the balls withstood the abuse." Man that must have been one bored shepherd.

That certainly trumps my hobo stove I use for camping (Ikea cutlery drainer + biscuit tin). If they could drop the price by about half I could see it becoming more popular.

True, but it makes ordering takeaway much easier.

Nice implementation. Much more useful than my phonetic plugin ( https://duckduckgo.com/?q=phonetic+hacker+news ) at least :D

I was wondering when they'd get around to updating the addons page. Looks nice and it should help now that there are a lot of competing addons for each category (there's now something like 5 Redis providers).

If anyone in the UK is after one, eBuyer are currently doing a pretty nice deal; 32GB Nexus 7 for £200 (RRP of the 16GB I think): http://www.ebuyer.com/398430-asus-google-nexus-7-32gb-tablet...

As an aside; Celluloid is awesome and you really made concurrent programming in Ruby better by releasing it :)

I switched from Resque to Mike Perham's Sidekiq earlier in the year, and the improvement is just sensational. I'm curious to see how Resque can be improved to bring it up to the same level.

I feel bad that I'm not currently paying for Cloudflare; I use it on a few sites but they don't have any traffic worth adding the extra fee for. However it's an excellent service and something I recommend often; hopefully I'll have somethin

I know quite a lot of things which I ignore on a regular basis, such as the knowledge that I suck at playing the ukulele; but I ignore that knowledge and abuse that instrument daily.

I quite like my watch, so instead I just don't worry about the time. I find it easy enough to know what the time is and just ignore it anyway :)

I wouldn't be so sure of that with the currently absurd amount of roadworks on the M4 ;)

I'm starting to consider this pretty seriously due to a flurry of incoming snooping laws in the UK. I normally do a bit of SSH tunneling out to a VPS if I need a proxy; is SSH my best option/most secure option? What do others recommend?

Yeah that's where my knowledge ran out. Still feel pretty good about finishing everything up to level 7 on my pretty vague understanding of various attacks :)

Which channel are you on? I'm running the latest beta and it works fine for me. If you're on stable then I can see how it would be causing you some issues, especially if you have FireBug installed.
