It's probably a great testament to its good design that I failed to notice how well it works when browsing Amazon. Everyone notices awful dropdown menus (and I really don't like Bootstrap's), but good ones like this often pass un-noticed be

I've also noticed a significant down-turn in production quality from Apple in the past few years. I have a G4 iBook sat in a cupboard which will still boot up without a single issue (not even any dead pixels), but my 2010 MBP had some weird

AFAIK the use of high-fructose corn syrup is illegal in the EU and a number of other regions (thankfully), hence why Coke is made with actual sugar in most areas outside the US.

I've been fancying building a game with Go + JS. I only have 2 problems: 1: I can't think of a game 2: Most JS libraries/frameworks drive me nuts. However there are quite a few decent looking JS game frameworks about. Are there any recommen

It was great to see him mention how well Civilisation V is supported on it. I love that game, and hearing that it runs so well on the Surface Pro would probably be the tipping point for me if I had the money spare to spend on one.

This looks quite neat and the Rails example ( https://github.com/hexagonaljs/rails-example ) is interesting. I'll definitely have a play around with it later in my never-ending quest to find JS libraries that don't make me want to snap my c

We have a magic roundabout in Cardiff too, though it's named that way for a slightly different reason: http://i.imgur.com/pmQmg4M.jpg

I can't remember why I stopped using Pocket. I really need to write down reasons why I stop using software/libraries etc; there always comes a time when I need to justify it and I can never remember the reason :D

It's honestly out of laziness. I mostly just keep opening tabs and can't be arsed to go back through them and decide which ones to keep. I've tried using all manner of sites like Pinboard, but none of them work as I like. I want a one-click

There's a few "massage parlours" with frosted windows and flash(ish) cars parked outside dotted around Cardiff. Everyone knows they're brothels, but nobody really cares; at least that way the police know where the prostitutes are and can ke

The reason I use Firefox over Chrome is mostly down to memory usage with a large amount of tabs open. Chrome really starts chugging when you get over 40 tabs (and it's a pain to organise them too). It also has some really weird caching prob

I'm really excited for Firefox OS, but I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I have a lot of respect for Mozilla and the high quality of their software. Having a fresh ecosystem is always going to attract developers who haven't bothered with

The greatest thing I've gotten out of Discourse so far is the fully functional, real-world Ember app that I can use to learn Ember. So many frameworks seem to think that a to-do application is enough of an example, but it isn't. I decided t

I started building an app with Batman.js a few months ago, and I've come across those exact same issues. The performance is a real problem as I'm doing a lot of live updates to big-ish data sets, and it's noticeably chugging now.

Any word on when they'll support purchasing from a UK bank account? Most of the other options are a bit more convoluted than the straight-forward system Coinbase seems to use.

I feel exactly the same. I enjoy my work but by the time it gets to the evening I need a break, and I never manage to find the time to hack on fun side projects. I have so many silly ideas and things I want to hack on; I really want to get

I agree that it's a hard choice; I had to make this exact choice last week when working on a video chat service. Possibly because of the nature of the service (tutoring/teaching) it felt incredibly unnatural to see a non-mirrored image of m
