I'm British and I have never personally pronounced it "istoric", and to my knowledge I have never heard anyone pronounce it like that either. Is it a regional thing? I can only recall it being pronounced like that in US TV sh

It's a bit more expensive than most options but the price does vary by how much of your data is duplicated. At the mo I have 1TB of data being backed up but it squashes down to under 550GB with borg. Monthly price for me is about $17 (

I use borg (attic fork) backing up to rsync.net for my home server. All my machines back up locally to that machine (mostly using SyncThing), then it backs itself up every hour or so. It's not perfect but it does work really rather wel

I'm surprised not to see any mention of Clementine ( https://www.clementine-player.org/ ) here. I switched over to it last year and it's lovely. The interface is nothing special but it's quick and efficient, an

I've written a prototype bit of software in Rust to run on a fleet of Raspberry Pi units. So far it seems impeccably reliable, which is nice, but cross-compiling it was not the most fun I've ever had programming. As the tooling im

There's a folk song about Moreton Bay that details some of the horrible things Logan did. Here's a pretty recent rendition by a couple of British folk musicians (apologies to any Australians who know of good Aussie versions): htt

I want out but I'm not sure my partner will leave. Every day living here makes me more depressed and anxious. And I worry that we'll leave it too long and stand no chance of moving to an EU country.

After having a look at some of the links posted, it looks like the power draw is slightly higher than the i7 7700k in most tests, although lower in some. Looks like my assumption based on the TDP was a bit off (also my misapprehension that

I haven't found one yet, but as the chip is rated at 65W and the i7 7700k at 91W, it's pretty likely to draw less (at load anyway). I'd be curious to see what they draw whilst idle though.

The 1700 is really well placed, often seems to beat the i7 7700k in benchmarks whilst drawing less power and costing roughly the same/cheaper. Probably even better value if the stock coolers are as solid as they sound. Definitely going
