Good. While people may argue that these things are safer, their success will only lead to the development of more car centric living spaces. Streets will be wider, harder to walk, less people centric. IMO its cheaper in the long run to j

I found I have about 10+ brothers and sisters through 23andme. I knew the risk when I signed up and assumed something like this would have happened sadly.

Agreed. Cars still destroy cities. No matter if they are driven by a human or not.

Agreed this is overboard. I always wondered what percentage of people would have bought the pirated material given they had no option to pirate it. I have to imagine a large chunk of people pirate things they’d never buy.

This must be terrible for people that work in gaming. What if you don't work at one studio, and then there are only 3 others you can realistically go to and make enough $ to earn a living? Will that number just continue to decrease o

It's definitely somewhat annoying when they don't exist. For example I had to build a relatively simple feature that required a user scroll down, and its not completely obvious sometimes that you should do so due to the lack of s

This is bad news. I guess we will have to work towards funding public transit now. Dang!

I could believe it. I like working remotely, but will also admit it leads me to be super isolated and lonely sometimes.

What is the chance self driving cars get super popular, everyone forgets how to drive over the years, then the VC $ drys up, the enshittification happens and prices get way too high. The people with no where else to turn with few human dri

I think they are trying to say that in higher cost of living places you sometimes cannot afford to have a space large enough for your family and your work space. If they work at an office maybe their life partner takes care of their family

My elderly parent literally gave rando people from Russia and India remote desktop control of her computer multiple times while she was trying to get a printer fixed or something. It blew my mind...

This might be good. I admit I look at videos from civilized countries that are not completely dependent on cars with a bit of jealousy. They built their surroundings around people, you can walk places, you can enjoy life, you get your wor

If tech workers had a union they wouldn't have to put up with this. I wonder what % of people even want to go back to the office?

On Clement St. here in SF I saw some posters plastered on the shutdown walgreens. I thought it was just some weird scam I never heard of. It felt fake. I'm kind of shocked to see its Altman's project.

That era of the onion was amazing. I'm not sure if they had a ton of funding back then or what the reason for this was.

Hopefully it continues and these homes come back on the market as long term rentals or actual homes real people can buy to live in with their families.

How the heck do you expect me to do wicked 360 kick flips and other extreme sports activities without soda? Water just doesn't cut it :)

Not that I agree with this sentiment. But you do need to do these things if others are doing so. It’s like weight cutting in combat sports. It only takes one person who does it to force all others to as well.

It may cause many to just unplug from it all. Assume everything is fake, give up on "truth" and live their own local lives without being plugged into the news cycle 24/7. Maybe it sets us free.

I often see the police at my local library here in SF. They now have a large security guard there full time. More often than not the library is reasonably calm, but I would say once a week we have someone screaming and freaking out. Over

What does it mean that guys like this and SadlyItsBradley were not invited to try the Vision Pro? Interesting to note that the experts in the state of the field were not given a chance to try it.

I wonder if we will be able to connect this to a PC for use with steam VR. All of the best things in VR happen in the PC realm where you don't have to jump through hoops to get your experiments out to others.

It's so hard to convey the experience this stuff without actually using it. Sure it looks awesome in these fake renders of what passthrough looks like, but IRL how does it look?
