Agreed. Kona/Waikoloa area resorts are so spread out you would have to drive.

I don't want to reply with a blanket statement, but a lot of the times senior management just doesn't understand how much work it takes to build complex IT systems and how a great team can make it happen. They see IT as disposable

Yep, Bank of America and Citi offer the same service. Not sure about others.

Bank of America and https://privacy.com/ Have done this for years too.

Zibo 737 mod on X-Plane 11 will give you hell of a time. It's super realistic compared to stock 737 on X-Plane. Heck, I spend more time mucking about with FMC and inputting the flight plan than flying these days :)

We always think that grass no the other side is greener, but not really. It's yellow :( It's the same with how a lot of tech folks idolize farming. In reality it's a tough job with long hours and cold weather.

Yeah but by using public transit they still walk to the train/bus/trolley stations. In suburban America, people walk outside of their garage into their car and drive 1+ hour to their office. That little bit of walking to public tr

I have a mouse and keyboard attached to my 2015 MBP....and I still reach for that track pad. I really need to replace my mouse with their Magic Trackpad. It's just that good.

Nah, Slackware install was pretty fast. Although it did install a ton of packages and removing the extra cruft is a pain in the ass without a decent package manager that handles dependencies.

Mosh + tmux on an iPad Pro rocks. I can now select and copy/paste using finters or Apple Pencil.

What? Cloud is very relevant. Unless you mean IBM and Oracle cloud...yeah those are irrelevant.

How does one learn to swim with small feet? I tried to learn how to swim multiple times when I was a youth (grade school, middle school, high school). I could never grasp it and would always end up flailing my legs or slowly sinking. It was

Set up a lambda function that looks up billing. If billing reaches certain threshold, start shutting down resources. We do that and it works just fine.

Yeah but today we have Internet. Researching things has never been easier.

Richard Hammond's (from Top Gear fame) Engineering Connection is a continuation of the original Connections. We found ourselves watching it on the weekends during breakfast as a gentle jumpstart to daily thinking. It's fantastic a

European license plates may be squished but they're also much wider which require cars to have different bumpers/hatches/tailgates. Other countries on other continents (not just Europe) use plates similar in size to North Ame

Also watch out for throttling of GET requests/get-parameters API calls. I've found Parameter Store with SecureString sufficient enough but the throttling can kill the Lambda if it gets invoked frequently.

Yeah in the sticks or areas nobody wants to live in. Joking aside, Midwest tends to be cheaper. Chicagoland area is far cheaper than SF or NYC and yet has a lot of good paying jobs.

No pilot will want to point and click using a trackpad. Finger is far quicker.

Yeah I use one extensively. It’s great, especially for browsing website with tiny buttons (like HN) and drawing in notes. I don’t think going to 2 is a huge concern.

You can also use AWS Parameter Store with KMS (SecureString type) to store secrets in Parameter Store. Of course this doesn't offer rotation of the secrets although KMS will handle key rotation.

If OP does end up getting X-Plane, I suggest downloading a freeware 737 airplane called Zibo 737. It’s an extremely detailed version of 737-800.

I really like DO's blogs/documentation. Fairly easy to get into versus AWS. On another hand, AWS has a very broad product offering with very broad documentation - some hit and miss though.
