We made ~8500 plants available to you by importing the Plant For a Future dataset. You can use it now to create lists, guilds and help improving that data. Also don't forget to plan your next garden season with it!

Yes chives are great, especially since they are perennial and once you grow them, you will have a endless supply! Can be combined well with Strawberries, which is another easy plant for containers and they are perennial too!

Hey lovely HN people, While I saw many people are interested in growing their own plant and specifically in permaculture here, very few actually grow something. Let's change that! I am happy to answer any questions about how you can ge

Look what I’ve found of a bit googling: https://www.apple.com/environment/pdf/products/iphone/iPhone... While it is made by Apple itself it gives a rough idea of how much an iPhone costs.

Sure, you would grow 10 new plants every year since Tomatoes are mostly grown annually (while can be also grown perennial). I should have made that more clear in the blog post.

Thanks for your comment. My calculation is simple and is there to get the discussion going. What's the reason of adding another 10 each year? When composting the tomatoes properly (even in place) you can grow the next years 10 in the d

> Yes, we should definitely grow plants, but even more so, we need to consume way waaaay less. Wouldn't it be the best when these two are actually the same? When growing more enables you to consume less? I didn't account for th

Why adding 10 every year? Assuming that emissions of countries will go down...!

Hey HN community, Thank you for the great discussion we had last time[1]! A lot of people reached out and spawned some very interesting conversions. Happy to jump right back in, reading how you tear apart my numbers :) Ben https:/

I wouldn’t be concerned about scale. If we convert every lawn to farm land, we would get three times the amount of current farm land on top. Say we replace it completely, we could still farm 3 times less efficient and would have the same am

That sounds great and exactly what I want to see too! Combined with exact dates and you could "calculate" "real" growing times!

I can't find the sources but until 60-70 years ago almost every houshold in NY had either chicken or rabbits.

Thank you so much for this comment! There is a lot of unpack in this topic and I hope to address this in later posts (this was my first one!). I think the most important thing now is to write about what you said last: stating goals!
