The switch statement offers the ability to provide a default opperation, such as tell the user the command was not found. You could add an undefined property check on the dispatch table, but then you have as much and more complex code IMO.

Isn't the, "one" in the title redundant? Would you say two half seconds rather than just a second?

I imagine this is Adobe trying to milk some final money out of flash. After all they are still having to support it and will do for a good few years.

It works, but there is a lot it can't do, and a lot of things that actually make it slower on poor connection (full page refreshes etc). It's also interesting to note that it's a different version of the app, as is the tablet and mobile ver

The problem is it's dependent on the runtime. A debugging tool for Chrome, wouldn't necessarily work in Safari or IE. You need the runtime vendors to provide them. Chrome has been really good at this, but are there tools for mobile Safari,

Well said, there is a difference between website and web app. It's a hard line to find, but there is a big difference between Gmail and Hacker News.

It may not be considered costly when your advertisers pull out because their content is getting replaced via HTTP.

I imagine Google would choose Dart for the web. They seem to have lost interest in GWT.

It's worth pointing out that there are a ton of frameworks and libs for propriety development environments too. Even where there is a dominant framework you then get micro architectures on top of that. With the web as an application develop

That's one part, but it doesn't solve the central state control. Perhaps someone could extract the Google reader API and turn it into a standard for other products to implement?

Google's closure tools can compile JS into a single file, and can also target runtimes to remove redundant code. I imagine you could get away with a single html and js file. Images could be converted to binary too in theory, I think the Cap
