Plenty of companies can incorporate offshore though. That's probably easier than in the US.

Those lists are often incomplete sadly because the actual underlying data on startups is much worse here in Europe. For whatever reason people don't submit data to places like Crunchbase and the media channels here are far less consist

Not all but there are indeed a disproportionate # of ex-financiers vs the composition of Valley firms. I did this analysis a while ago and it was pretty striking when graphed. The only consistency was MBAs in VC roles across the board.

Well that's disappointing - I guess it means it won't be free anymore or will start to be restricted in how it can be parsed. RIP.

But that's the exact problem for many average users. They were shunted into a default track of follwing 10s of "garbage" posters. My mom's Gmail inbox is exactly this problem - she has dozens of daily useless newsletters

Really? I found it surprisingly easy to get the visa with a US passport here in London. Took maybe 2.5 weeks and zero hassles except just showing up.

But conversely it's incredibly hard to change jobs in the UK mid-career or at least beyond the entry-level days. Many friends of mine have had tremendous difficulty jumping into a different role without that new role already on their C

Why wouldn't it? Weed is all but legal here in the UK but Spice remains popular for the intense and different highs.

I don't follow this logic. K2 seems to be cheaper and a better high so why wouldn't you take it vs regular cannabis? Legalization wouldn't really change a thing.

This review seems based purely on one anecdote. I'm curious whether the antenna positions on his Asus were partly to blame. The Wirecutter review [1] was a bit more negative on performance. But, even with Wirecutter there's not mu

It sucks they changed the rule retroactively. But why didn't you just get a passport? Either now or then you'd be entitled to citizenship quite easily and there's not really downside like different tax status or military serv

This reeks of bad product management. Surely a good pm and eng team could come up with a more sensible solution than shutting all edits down. This is clearly a second rate product inside Google. Probably managed out of a remote office w bad

There aren't that many billion dollar VCs out there. By volume most funds are far smaller, so management fees are less and carry is really dependent on gross multiples you deliver to LPs.

Kleiner is a huge fund though. Most smaller funds have partners that make a lot less. If you're an engineer, you're making more than I am as a newish VC :)

This makes sense for business travellers if you need to get to JFK for a flight at say 6pm on a weekday. Traffic then is easily 1.5 hours and the variability is too high to comfortably rely on it. If it means an extra hour or two of meeting

It's much cheaper with a Network Railcard - 22.40 roundtrip. With all HEX tickets, you can use them in any direction (i.e., it's two unlimited one ways basically) and the first is good for 3 days, the second "return" one

I think people fail to understand how separate teams work inside Google. In 2007 this would probably have been done by the team working on consumer products like Google Sites. A deal of this size would have been led by an eng director and a

Sorry for the colloquial English. I meant that employees will likely take advantage of this as a good alternative to leaving Google. It is financially beneficial to earn in CHF versus RUB if you don't mind Zurich.
