Word is that most employees are being offered full relocation (generally to Zurich) which I have to think will be well received. This goes for both Moscow and St Petersburg.

How expensive is doing promoted posts in Uruguay though? I don't see how being "third world" has anything to do with it. I'd have to guess the cost to promote is roughly proportionate to the ad market prices in that coun

Twitter has the same discovery problem. Every non-tech user I know on Twitter has a few hundred chatty celebrities on their feed. If they check Twitter once a day or every other day, there's no way they'd see the quality post thr

You can immediately sync it to your device when you purchase. But of course that requires you remembering to do it. Annoying, but if you're online to purchase you can sync to device then as well.

You can pull the books off the SD card on an Android phone running the Nook app. That's how I've been doing it since they disabled downloads. Quite annoying though. I used to price shop between them and Amazon, but now I lean towa

This is the problem with socialized medicine. You don't really have the option and you're stuck with whatever doctor the system gives you.

You have no right to the free labor of others. Why should a doctor work under indentured servitude to whatever this nonprofit decides to pay him or her after over a decade of study. That's outright theft.

One quick and relatively easy win is logging IP addresses of historical logins or attempts. It's quite easy then to look for patterns that are skewed in a strange way. It's hard to automate but extremely valuable for human interve

The Hangouts UI is a disgrace to Google. I can't count the # of times I've tried to get even technical people to join a Hangout and it took an extra 5-10 minutes to sort out. Finding the initiation button is horribly hard, the UI

British DSL is far worse than cable in my experience. Virgin's cable & fiber offering is massively faster and has a wider footprint than DSL products I've seen.

Former Adsense PM here. It sounds implausible but there were certainly lots of shady accounts from emerging markets. I could see them ratcheting up enforcement on questionable sites from those markets surely but not at this level of random

SoftEther is really simple to configure and works very well using normal VPN clients, which is easier for non-tech friends/colleagues to access vs SSH.

So frustrating it takes this political tone. It's not helpful in the least to label the administration "corrupt" and then expect to be taken seriously. It's not a partisan problem but an institutional one.
