The reason is pretty simple - enterprise software. Java provides a good enough mix of performance and flexibility to still be a competitive choice for large enterprises.

1. Yes, it can. 2. No, it isn't really that good at it. While standard GPT might be good only for some basic stuff. Some of these AI tools look quite promising, though.

Java is the backbone of so many enterprise apps out there. It’s got a lot of momentum. While I prefer the syntax of other languages I could easily see my knowledge of Java/spring being a value add the rest of my career
