While I truly applaud you for trying to build at least something yourself, I have to ask why you think you need to do that? I, as a programmer, wouldn't expect you to build a prototype. What I _would_ expect is a very detailed list of use c

I don't think you're missing out on a lot, and that's coming from someone who uses both Spring and Django daily. There are a lot of Spring projects, but just to give you an example: - Spring Security --> django.contrib.auth - Spring MVC

I think the estimate is good. When I write 100 LOC, it probably won't be correct the first time. So I go back, fix, test and fix again. While having another look at it I notice that some things can be condensed or replaced with existing cod

You mean something like South ( http://south.aeracode.org/ )? Did you have any problems using it or did you prefer something else? It would be nice to see something like this incorporated into Django itself, but I guess you can't expect it

Graphic design. But it looks like few are reading the article that thoroughly anyway. ;) I have to agree with the article up to a certain point though: creating mockups helps me find out what I need to build. Of course, creating a graphic d

Yep, I'd suggest giving Adobe Air a spin. With some plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript you can create a decent (enough) cross-platform application. If you need an idea to get started, have a look at http://github.com/roam/morse/tree/master .

Maybe it is crap, but this has nothing to do with the people of North Korea. It's (allegedly) their government. The one that also has the ability to manufacture and launch rockets. How many bottles of shampoo could you buy with that?

Such frameworks do exist. Spring, amongst others, allows you to do that in the Java world ( http://springframework.org/ ). Edit: because a simple link to the website won't tell you a whole lot about the idea behind it, here's a shot at expl

Clickable: http://mychipper.com/ I like it. Nice and clean, the charts are exactly what I'd need and the options to view daily and monthly reports are good. Maybe it's a bit too minimal: use a bit of a gradient on buttons, use alternate b

I have to agree. My work laptop came with Vista. I tried getting along with it, but I didn't like it as much as XP. When working on a project, everything worked fine on XP and Ubuntu but not on Vista, so I had to switch to Ubuntu. It was ea

Why would you complain with Google? It's doing what it's supposed to do: index the web. Should we expect Google to know where the data was originally published? I do, because it's an important metric in determining PageRank besides the numb

I agree with your last point: "stick with stuff you can migrate". But moving away from Google App Engine doesn't have to be a pain (depending on how much of the storage options you are using) and in the case of AppJet it's simply a matter o

Yes, a FAQ is certainly useful. But in the case of the Browseology FAQ and homepage, you have to take a step back and try to look at it through the eyes of a first time visitor. Above the first input box there's a link with the text "then j

Actually, such a standard exists: http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/struct/links.html#h-12.1.2 . I think Opera is (or was) the only browser to support this.
