When Amazon launches an API everyone cries. Same story over and over. Even better example: TakeAway-Group. The perfect MITM.

Surprised how little the B2C and even B2B e-commerce segment is providing API access for automation and agentic coding. One could easily set up rate limits, fraud detection and KYC checks upfront initial access.

Every server admin can ban your account. You can’t move a banned account. You lose everything. I was banned from mastodon.social because I dare to criticize the socialist regime of the former GDR on Germany‘s Independence Day.

This lead to even more strict echo chambers because they effectively kill different opinions. The bubble will become even more strict and radical to people that are not living the cult.

> Some of the most toxic conversations I've seen were on Mastodon I second this. Even moderation of mastodon.social and related OSS projects is toxic. It was the biggest disappointment of the last couple of years to me, even worse t

I built a ruby cli (back when Thor was a thing) that does most of the stuff, but I still edit the zone itself using vim („dns edit <zone>“ launches vim). PowerDNS has nice cli to deal with DNSSEC and bind (file) backend so I don’t hav

UBI/UBS requires a very solidaric community. But the current situation (in Germany) is not about finding any job but taking a low paid, hard working or even dangerous job (nursing service, shifter, even soldier, public sector). UBI m

I also took the route of finding a new hobby (biking, all things bike mechanics, even politics) but of course it's not paying any of my bills. That's the point. While I helped making other people very rich, I never owned shares or

A couple of years ago Bloomberg reported about spy chips/hw backdoors in SuperMicro mainboards but to my knowledge without a smoking gun proof. Maybe they had to settle outside of court and also had to sign papers to help protect the c

I enabled DNSSEC a couple of years ago on my self hosted powerdns setup. I sign the zone locally, than build docker containers via SSH on the target nodes. I made a mistake once and signed with wrong keys which then broke DANE. It‘s good to

It's about decentralization, and IPv6 adoption is very high in Europe. Resilience means to know how to network. A large enthusiastic community of amateurs leads to skilled professionals.

The strongest reaction of EU would be to subsidize RIPE small LIR fees to 0€ and embrace decentralization.

I don’t want to speculate who is behind that. Clearly some SaaS shops are way overpriced but this is in no way the end of the business modell. Some contrarian will find the right timing to counter play and become more wealthy…

By using an external service, people outsource problems. Using agentic coding to „clone“ a service by naively specifying the features (not the implementation) will insource the problem. If the problem is static, separated, well understood a

This is not sustainable IMHO. RIPE fees are: €75 per assignment / sponsored resource €50 per ASN assignment So in your case it's only €50 for the AS-object but your LIR needs to allocate their LIR base fee costs (which includes th

I don't want to blame anyone for using this setup except RIPE for their fee schedule. For example, I don't have IPv6 because that would double my running costs just for RIPE.

It's not comparable. You will lose your AS and PA if your sourcing-LIR goes out of business or increases prices against you. It's ab big difference to become a LIR or just a downstream customer.

While I strongly support IPv6 migration, the current IPv4 pricing is a rip-off. All the brokers and auction sites are fantasizing. The market is tight, but nowhere near the point where it was 4-5 years ago. Big cloud providers already bough
