Nice article, but it'd be nice to see what the author's proposed fix to this would be. Stopping multiple accounts from the same person is a nice idea in theory, but breaks when you realise it's technically impossible (IP checks are easy to

I say "the last few weeks", but really, that's just when I've been focussing on it. This library has been in development for at least a year. Finally getting it released feels good. If anyone wants any help with using this, they are most we

There's a giant disagreement on php-internals at the moment as to the nature of Suhosin. The core developers argue that time would be better spent working on the core itself instead, and Stefan does not agree with that. The aforementioned p

It's actually a preference on reddit, and one that (IIRC) is off by default. In terms of breaking usability, people expect links to open in the current window/tab. Having them open a new window/tab is disorientating at best.

I can't vouch for it, but Sublime does have a port of org-mode: https://bitbucket.org/rchl/sublime_orgmode/overview Might be worth a try.

For something that could break GitHub, I'd hazard a guess that they'd deploy that as a branch without merging or to a subset of servers first. In addition, their deploy tools are built off Capistrano, not off GitHub (except for the Git bits

Could you not then argue the same for data encryption? Bruteforcing it would be the equivalent of a blowtorch in that case. Would that not then mean that they can compel you to give the key/password?

I would argue the same as Gruber and say that they did create their own format. Whether or not it looks like ePub under the surface is irrelevant, since it's a .ibooks file, not a .epub. Since it's Apple's format, they can do whatever they

Personally, while I would have agreed with the Soda UI theme a couple of weeks ago, the new UI theme works pretty well and looks much better.

In this instance, I would say the WordPress Foundation. westi (a core developer of WordPress) commented below that this represents the project, and WordPress and the WordPress Foundation are really one and the same.

It should do with the event API: http://developer.github.com/v3/events/types/ (IssueCommentEvent and/or CommitComment) For GitHub usernames you don't need that, but I could see that being useful for email addresses.

In addition, WordPress has a built-in updater, so it's incredibly easy to update, unlike many other platforms which require reuploading or obscure update steps.

I think release early, release often works well in some cases, especially for pre-release software. If you're working on the initial versions of something, that quick iterative process is key. Once you've released, however, you have an obli

Couple of small things: you shouldn't `return ($var);`, since that returns the result of the statement `($var)`. Use `return $var;` instead, and return them by reference where possible. I also would have gone with naming consistent with PDO

Personally, it's whatever I can listen to that I can't sing along to. That can either be something purely instrumental (most of Pendulum's songs, e.g.), something in a different language (Sigur Ros), or mashups (Girl Talk).
