Curious to know, what's your business model? You mention you self-funded, but is the intention to have paid accounts, sell advertising, etc?

React is notable for this: inserting HTML strings directly into the DOM uses `dangerouslySetInnerHTML`, and also has used names like `__SECRET_DOM_DO_NOT_USE_OR_YOU_WILL_BE_FIRED`: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=114470

Electron definitely isn't the greatest: it's inefficient, duplicative, and makes your app way larger than it needs to be. With that said, IMO Electron is great purely for the reason that it opens desktop development up massively.

The Consumer Guarantees Act is like the Australian Consumer Law; the ACCC is just the body responsible for enforcing it and representing consumers. The analogous body in NZ is the Commerce Commission: http://www.comcom.govt.nz&#x

Pharmacies are typically separate to supermarkets in Australia (potentially legally so). Tobacco products are sold at a different counter in the supermarket though (since they have to be served by a person).

There are already strong social norms in Australia against smoking, partially because of these laws. (See other comments in this thread.)

We shipped a REST API in WordPress 4.7, and the API is going to continue to be a focus of the project going forward. The great thing about that is that it allows building entirely new interfaces without touching any backend code in WordPres
