I listen to "binaural beats for a more creative mind" or "binaural beats for concentration and alertness" on spotify while working sometimes. I'm not convinced on the actual science behind binaural beats' affect on the brain, but it very mu

I hate these articles that argue for drastic changes in schooling without the deep analysis those changes deserve. It takes a certain kind of arrogance to go from "I wasn't good at X" to "X is useless; let's get rid of it." I also struggled

I've found Chrome (and all browsers in this day and age, for that matter) to be quite stable, and I haven't heard complaints from others. Before switching browsers (which can be pretty inconvenient) it may be worth debugging if this is an i

I have some experience with both, but can't give a great comparison. The tldr is I've always had a better impression of Hinton than Hawkins, and have studied/followed Hinton's approaches much more carefully. In late 2006/early 2007 I was wo

They're referring to the 'billing system password'. I may be mistaken on this, but I think this predates a time when most people had online accounts, which can create confusion now that there are two things called a password. I remember str

Everything about icloud - from the terrible design to the clunky interface - is as Steve Jobs liked to say, "shit". I have icloud and I'm not even sure what it's for; is it a backup service, an e-mail provider, or a way to find my phone? No

I prefer the glassdoor approach: aggregate anonymized numbers so people get a good idea of the income and bonus distribution by company, job title, city, and experience. This really gives anyone a ton of useful information without drama.

I've heard this mentality from a lot of people recently. Part of it is my friends and I have gotten older and we no longer consider spending hours tinkering with OS settings a good use of our time. But the real shift is cloud computing - ou

Ask me anything VS discuss the topic at hand leads to two very different discussions. In an AMA the point would be for us to ask you questions, whereas if I started asking you questions here most would probably be deemed off-topic.
