Unsure since I don't have a larger laptop. Though I'll say that I don't find the Surface's trackpad lacking for what I would use it for - and yet I don't always use it. It's mostly unconscious like one of the other people said.

Gorilla arm really only applies if you have your arm extended the entire time (or simply "a lot"). With a touch screen laptop you'd a) still have mouse/kb input so you wouldn't always be using touch and more importantly b) when you're not i

You know, I thought the same thing but it's surprising how often I touch my Surface when I'm using it as a laptop. I don't think about it, it sort of just happens sometimes...like to tap a button or go back in IE by swiping backwards, or ev

Word has improved "track changes" and commenting. Definitely my favorite changes specific to word. Other than that, it can also embed videos (nice to be able to play a video instead of clicking a link to open a browser and watch the video..

Honestly the change from 2010 to 2013 is bigger than the change from 2007 to 2010 - particularly all of the cloud stuff. (It's actually quite cool to have the same most recently used documents when you open up an Office app, regardless of w

Cool! I think you should include the title of this post ("watch the world in real time") somewhere in the actual webpage. That's really what got me to click.

Not to sound harsh but reading that was a complete waste of time. In the end it came down to this: Q: What is it really like working with Steve Jobs? A: It wasn't magic, it was hard work, thoughtful design, and constant iteration. No way, r

I don't know much about this stuff but different server or not - if the domain is hijacked then everything is broken, no? E.G. if they had blackboard (course docs, homework, etc.) on blackboard.mit.edu then that would be hosed right now, wo

This is nothing new. Any facebook user has likely seen tons of these on their feed and so it's only somewhat logical to assume that, for your friends, you might come up in a similar fashion. In fact, isn't this completely related? http://m

I use Facebook and it isn't making me depressed -at all-. If Facebook seriously is making you depressed then perhaps you really should simply use it to "keep up with the Joneses" or just deactivate your account entirely. Good grief.

This is true. Coding isn't necessarily the fun part (though you certainly should not dislike it) - it's what you create with your code that I find to be motivating. Hopefully solving some relatively complex problems along the way. And the

Ah, the People hub. Its integration with social networks I think is an awesome, awesome feature that is not talked about enough. I honestly don't remember the last time I used the Facebook app on the phone. You just really rarely ever need

Critical files or not, data loss is a 100% unacceptable bug. I really doubt you will be able to convince anyone that data loss is okay. It's not. With that said, I think Dropbox is a pretty amazing service and I credit them for getting Goog

I think that this article basically his the nail on the head in most respects. I agree with his complaints as well as his thoughts on why it's good. I currently own a WP7 device but am looking to pick up a 920 or 8X in February when I get a

This reminds me of Microsof's "A year in the like" from last year...it seems the site is down so you cant make new ones. It was kind of funny/corny. Here's a youtube video of someone who uploaded theirs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owCo

I suspect that Ballmer wasn't really able to have full control of the company and decisions until Gates left (so...2007, right?). Then, I'd say that CEOs have to be judged 3-4 years in the future, meaning that if a CEO of a huge company dec

Yeah I agree. Though I don't think that them pushing the app store as being metro first is equal to them shunning the desktop. Perhaps that is simply something we'll agree to disagree on? It's very important for them to have the metro envir

Well actually you can get desktop apps off of the app store. Sort of. It just redirects you to the website where you can download the software. But it is a listing nevertheless.

Perhaps I used "power user" incorrectly. Basically what I'm getting at is that it seemed to me, perhaps incorrectly, that the person running the show told the people in the usability study to focus more on the new stuff and avoid the old. O

I really don't agree with this and there is no arguing that it is simply conjecture at this point. I don't think Microsoft thinks that Metro apps or the metro environment do or ever will offer the same level of extremely high productivity t

What bothers me about the OP though is that if you really dislike Metro so much on a desktop, you don't have to use it! I'll repeat that even though I think we all know this already: if you don't want to use Metro apps, you don't have to us
