Also the article says that the question asked "over the next 6 months". That isn't really looking ahead much at all. This seems like it would be more worrisome (if worrisome at all!) if it was over the next 3-5 years.

By the way, for anyone interested in how the memory manager is implemented in Windows 8, I watched this video a few months back and remember it being pretty interesting. http://channel9.msdn.com/Shows/Going+Deep/Inside-Windows-8-G...

iirc, microsoft has onenote, skydrive, skype and outlook.com apps for android. Sure, you can argue that "well Android has majority market share so it's in microsoft's advantage to have apps in that platform!" - and you would be correct. How

Oh wait so in Google land, if I have an Android phone and have instant upload enabled, photos go into Google+ rather than Google Drive? I think that alleviates my concern.

What are "Google+ Photos"? Are these equivalent to when I make an album on Facebook? If so, I'm not a fan. I use SkyDrive and have it so pictures I take with my WP are auto-uploaded. As such, my SkyDrive is filled with tonnssss of pictures

I was actually going to reply to the parent and say that Windows 8 often times tells me to "click or tap". Can you give an example of somewhere in Windows 8 where it says to only tap?

I have a netbook running xubuntu and when I connect it to a TV via HDMI, the sound continues to come from the netbook rather than from the TV. I googled for some fixes and couldn't find any quick fix that worked. This should "just work" in

Like others, I liked the loop-back to today. I think it would be nice to include decade before century. Also, more or less at/after "period" I started to get a little bored (see the discussion in these comments about losing perspective) UNT

Somewhat tangential, somewhat related: people listen to music a lot, and yet the great majority of people do so with their stock iPod earbuds - or cheap alternatives. I don't like to consider myself an Audiophile (and I really don't think I

I had originally commented saying that this was a great read. I was only half-way done though. After finishing the entire thing, I agree that it could have used more details. Overall I do think it's a good read (so, you know, some of you sh

I agree with this. I might get some flack, but.....if you don't file the patent then someone else likely will. Morality points are great and all, but at the end of the day you're going to lose out to the company which "beat" you to it and w

I really wish the video would have mentioned what the difference is between ink and paint. Because if someone asked me what was in the video, I would have guessed paint over ink. It just looks like paint!

Good story, thanks. Though I'd say pursing a dream as a child/teenager is different from doing so as an adult with a family to support. As Ang Lee wrote in his letter/essay (someone linked it below) it felt 'undignified for a man' to have h

Yep, well put. I was thinking this too which sort of made it all the more 'tragic' - though perhaps that isn't a good word as this story isn't tragic...but it almost certainly could have been! Good for Ang Lee!
