I wonder if you could block unknown DoH endpoints via traffic analysis. They probably have pretty unique signatures, with every request/response being approximately the same size. Not that I want to give anyone ideas.

Ok, but I was asking about a single space laser vs a single fiber, not the theoretical limits of many of them. Space is pretty big, lasers are pretty narrowly focused, and not many people have lasers in space yet.

Why couldn’t intersatellite laser links have similar capacity to fiber? In principle, if not practice? Is it because ISLs will require more powerful lasers because the light is focused through a lens instead of guided through a fiber?

What? Of course it matters. If it was accidentally released from a lab, those responsible should be held accountable so it’s less likely to happen again. If it was intentionally released, it’s even more important to know by who and why.

What crimes are you referring to, and are you saying they should continue to be crimes? “Aroused” states, touching, exposing to specific individuals, etc seem like pretty obvious lines. I think most people can tell the difference between “b

Maybe they shouldn’t make Amber Alerts preempt Do Not Disturb then fewer people would disable them. It’s unlikely anyone woken up by an Amber Alert would be useful in that moment. At least defer it until they turn off Do Not Disturb.

A Raspberry Pi is extreme, but again, I’m not talking about a few block size doublings. “Visa scale” is on the order of 1000x Bitcoin’s current capacity. The other argument I’m familiar with is longer block propagation times lead to more or

There was speculation Starlink could be used for HFT once it gets laser links, but this would even beat that since you don't need to travel up and down an extra 500 miles, plus any buffering in the satellites. Starlink would have more

It’s pretty bizarre to (in the same sentence) imply Uber is “exploiting” gig workers, and also self-driving taxis eliminating that “exploitation” is a good thing for them.

If Tesla can prove riding in their autonomous cars is an order of magnitude safer than human operated cars then it would be unethical to not allow them to switch on full autonomy.
