I love that quote and thank you for your thoughtful comment. The workplace does make one feel like a mechanized cog in the machine at times.

Interesting! I contribute to django-sql-explorer which is very similar. I'll take a look at how django-sql-dashboard is implemented. Thanks.

Interesting - so you use their designer to do the front end? And then export and hook it up to Django?

Thanks! I looked into retool and it's very nice but what I really want is an embeddable retool experience in Django. Cause for 50% of my app I need all the power Django provides. Then the other 50% is hey look at this grid and here are

djangobuilder.io looks nice - thanks! Yeah so many times it seems like I want to display a grid and a few operations on that grid of data (a lot of times that could be handled with sql or sometimes with a little python). I end up repeating

Well django admin is great but I want something I can low code a few screens in my main app. Say I want to present the user with a grid of orders to be processed and also an action for each row called "Release Order". I'd lik

Django. Never as productive with anything else plus I like coding in Python. Anything I need that's not out of the box I usually can find as a 3rd party app. I use templates + htmx + a little js here and there as needed

Ha I worked for a startup that said this was one of their guiding principles. What it really meant was we will pretend to understand and will save it for later when we need to lay people off. Was also big on radical candor but that really

I apologize for my snarky answer :) I should have said I don't see any issues on these projects that jump out in severity or number of issues compared to other projects I use.

This may shock you to hear but all software has bugs. I use all these projects in production every day. They are fine.

Yeah I think virtual threads will give the JVM a huge boost, I am certainly looking forward to it. Personally, I find the async/await model harder to reason about than the thread-per-request model.

Yep this is good strategy for AWS. I has a Django system with 10k users with this exact setup that ran for 3 years before being superceded. I second using a managed db even if not on AWS. Also dump your static stuff behind CloudFront or ano

I think both are great. I prefer Django but it's a personal preference and also have only dabbled with Rails. My 2 cents - Rails has better support for mobile apps (Turbo Native) while I feel Django has a richer 3rd party app ecosystem
