For me, the "why" is a mix of: 1- ubiquity: now, virtually everyone's got a device capable of capturing high quality photo/video of you at any time 2- discoverability: social media gives anything the potential to go vira

FedEx lost the paperwork I overnighted to try and get my dog unstuck from customs during an international (California to EU) move and gave me the runaround for 3 days telling me "it'll be delivered tomorrow!" UPS got it there

I think accepting what you get and not obsessing over maximizing your satisfaction is a more internally peaceful way to live. Maybe get rid of the stuff you still stew over a year later, though.

The longer this war goes on the more skeptical I am that NATO wouldn't just wag a finger angrily and then impose more sanctions.

Agreed. I had to actually reject a takeoff in a C172 on a somewhat short runway and that was already enough stress.

It's not autonomous because it is rote automation. It does not have logic to deal with unforeseen situations (with some exceptions of handling collision avoidance advisories). Automating ATC, clearance, etc, is also not currently reali

Not only that but they are even less capable of taking off on their own (see the work done by Airbus' ATTOL project [0] on what some of the more recent successes are). So I'm not sure what "planes can land on their own"

I think technology leaders are perfectly entitled to blabbering unrequested political opinions. They're just not entitled to their opinions being accepted without consequence just because they're technology leaders.

I'm not saying Google's funding of Mozilla isn't entirely self serving. I think it is. I just don't think Google's funding of Mozilla is what's actually holding Mozilla back.

I think it's ultimately the same, though: they're not optimizing for you to get what you're looking for. At the same time, I know it's a hard problem to solve. Users also aren't good at finding what they want either
