> That only works if the code is good enough to be the documentation. It never actually is at any non-minimal scale (and not even the code authored by the the people who claim code is self documenting). My comment was rhetorical and sarc

So what you're saying is I can act subversively to try and take down Oracle by letting JetBrains train on my horrible coding skills? Maybe I should opt in.

But... I keep being told that commit messages are useless because the code is the documentation, so code diffs are self-explanatory...

I think you have a point and I'm not sure I entirely disagree with you, so take this as lighthearted banter, but: Coming from the opposite angle, what makes you think these folks have a habit of being right? VCs are notoriously making

I guess my problem is that I'm strictly in a "I'll believe it when I see it (and no sooner)" mindset when it comes to election results (as opposed to polls).

I'll accept accusations of being too cynical, but I come at it from the "(lack of) past consequences" side. For the past ~25 years I've paid attention, and in particular since 2008, virtually no scandal has cost the GOP

I agree with your description of "politics" as a negative/pejorative thing. That's also the only way I'm used to hearing it. Hearing about "politics" in a neutral/positive way would be new to me.

I don't think that's their point. I think their point is that you can have influence without doing these things.

Fair. I thought there was difference because I thought your stance was that republicans are afraid that the files themselves contain things that make them look bad (eg Trump or some other big-name republican was mentioned in them), and I do

My take is democrats called the republicans' "bluff" (because republicans never actually intended to release everything) and backed them into a corner of having to actively oppose the release because democrats don't. Now

I wasn't super informed on the Apple silicon laptops, so I was kind of disappointed when my last job gave me a 2-3 year old M1 Max laptop. It blew the doors off every other laptop and desktop I've had (before or since). When I thi

I'd say the risk for republicans is more looking like they lost something to democrats (or worse, caved) than the actual content of the files.

That's my gut feeling too but... I don't build certified airliners with lifespans of multiple decades for a living (or run companies that do). All I know from having worked in an Airbus subsidiary for a couple of years is that the

The scenario that comes to my mind is: these chips had a lot of potential customers 30 years ago, and now may be down to just one or two customers left buying too few units to make it worthwhile. Presumably, they have "guaranteed"

At a dinner with a team of Airbus folks we were working with at a previous job, they talked about how difficult it was getting to source CPUs for the A320 after 30 years. It's definitely a "if it ain't broke don't fix it

Replacing the 737 MAX with a competitor to the A220? Something does not make sense. The A220 series' maximum capacity is basically the 737 MAX series' minimum capacity.
