Love this! Somehow it really drew me in and excited my imagination. Rarely have I had that sense of enchantment on HN. The reasons what are ineffable to me. It was not so much "what it did" as how it was put together.

Can't wait to try this! It's great to find an article on something that looks fun just for the sake of doing it. Would love to see more like this on HN.

Was noticing the same thing. Asked the librarians I know and it seems like a well known issue in that circle. Being that they are 1) professionals at gathering information and 2) talk to a LOT of people who gather information that they mayb

Just boxes. Sure, ok by the same logic, singing is just air, writing is just words, movies are just light and sound. Code is just directions. You can reduce anything to it’s elements and it’s hard to argue, the basic truth of that, but the

I so appreciate your call out of the loss of the Macromedia ecosystem. The tools they created not only revolutionized the web but in terms of the “creators experience” we have yet to see the parallel of Flash. It makes me sad to think that

This is a travesty. And honestly, counter productive. They will literally ruin the atmosphere that draws all of these people and the people who want a theme park will be deterred by the religious heritage site. Dumb.

Agreed,I liked that the silver keys, silver body and bezel, almost invisible logotype made the screen the main focus. That matte screen was fantastic. In bright situations, everything around is also bright and reflective, but with matte, no

Agreed! What is challenging is that, as a culture, we do not have a collective sense of what is solid “information”. Between filter bubbles and the previous administration contradicting its own messaging, topped off with a populace lacking

We were dealing with the unknown and with deadly consequences. The behavior was correct for the situation. And when we got better information, hopefully we adjusted.

And filter bubbles. I mean, if you live in an information echo chamber, which we all do now, of course you’ll keep getting feedback that what you hear is true. People seem very unaware of their filter bubbles and how to see out of them.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind reply and will be researching APEC and Millennium. I really didn’t know where to start, so I really appreciate it!

Wondering what brand of reverse osmosis system you recommend? It’s hard to tell what is genuinely good. Also, what to do about replacing mineral content? Thanks in advance.

You’d think this would be the headline: In neither the placebo nor the malt vinegar group was there any change. But those consuming cider vinegar saw an average 13% reduction in total cholesterol, with a strikingly large reduction in trigly
