Sky's the limit. (Short of hiring a team of engineers to design and fab a one-off board, anyway). I appreciate your advice. I use the machine for a variety of different tasks, and am looking to accommodate at least two high-end GPU&#

Some builds I kept tabs on: Let's Encrypt documented their early 2021 whitebox that used 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes, mainly for storage: https://letsencrypt.org/2021/01/21/next-gen-database-servers... Troy Hunt

Can anyone recommend a specific, well-made, high-performance motherboard with loads of PCIe lanes and expansion slots, and sensible lane topology? All the motherboards these days make me feel claustrophobic. My current workstation is prett

Some clients perform some of those operations in a sandbox. Eg. Nine for Android let's you choose when you set up an account whether a remote wipe command should just wipe that account's local mailbox, or your whole device.

The little puzzle the article opens with is fun, but solving it is not what I'd associate with an "aha" moment. To me it felt more like a brute force search, or like solving a Wordle puzzle. I consider "aha" more c

It's interesting that along another axis, the inertia of the internet moved from a decentralized structure back toward something that resembles mainframes. I don't think those axes are orthogonal.

I agree and think the ability to spin up new identities is crucial to any sort of successful reputation system (and reflects the realities of how both good and bad actors would use it). Think back to early internet when you wanted an ident
