Wow - I knew they were bad at image attribution, but that's just plain awful. And these are just the photos from one photographer that have been improperly used! TNW clearly has a large gap in their reporting standards that needs to be corr

Thanks Matthew - glad to see you're willing to make that change. I noticed a number of other TNW articles from today also using the same anonymous attribution, one of which was another of yours ( http://thenextweb.com/apple/2012/06/05/apple

Agreed (although this article appears to contain some original reporting), but their neglect for proper image attribution is especially egregious. It is most bothersome to me because all they have to do is mention the guy's name and they ge

This is off topic, but the next web really needs to make an effort to properly credit images. They've been called out on this a number of times before, but the way they credit image sources is just plain wrong. In this article, for example,

Agreed. When you're spending as much time dealing with the methodology governing a project as you are actually doing something, something is wrong.

I've actually found the documentation for projects in the Ruby community, on the whole, to be quite excellent. That being said, I can sympathize with the confusion getting things deployed, if only because there are so many options. The best

I've also heard good things about the PragProg Ruby course - its $199 but is supposed to be excellent, though I have no direct personal experience with the course.

Really? Eloquent Ruby is one of the best Ruby books I've read - Russ Olsen is one of the best and most well respected technical writers out there. Design Patterns in Ruby is also excellent.

The best advice I can give is get to know Ruby well - don't just focus on Rails in the beginning. Eloquent Ruby by Russ Olsen is a great read and will give you a deeper understanding if you've got the basics down. Also, the PragProg book Me

Its great to see metaprogramming listed here - it is a term that tends to frighten beginners a lot more than it should. Understanding some of the basic metaprogramming concepts and features early will go a long way to helping you become a b

My personal thoughts are that the greatest near term impact we'll see is in angel investment $$ in seed rounds. At least here on the East Coast there has been a boom of relatively unsophisticated Angels driven by hype. It is these individua

One quick thing I noticed playing around creating a demo app - the generator seems to have generated some incorrect haml in the layout that it creates. First, it has "javascript:" instead of ":javascript" for the filter, and once that was f

I agree - none of the other frameworks I've tried have felt right, but this looks like a great fit with Rails - we'll see if I feel the same way after using it though :)

If you can't find eclipse shades, you can grab some #14 shade welding glass from a local welding supplier - a piece of 4" x 5" shouldn't cost you much more than about $3.

Glad to see Laurent open sourcing this piece - hopefully it will lead to even deeper community involvement. In the few short weeks since it was released, RubyMotion already has a really impressive community behind it and I'm excited to see
