I really thought the HackerNews readership was better than this, but a great majority of the comments here have people getting into full-on conspiracy mode in ignorance of basic facts that have been presented. I know these folks don't neces

There was actually quite a bit written about them, and their stories, when all this first came out. Some googling should turn up a few stories.

Agreed. Assange's ego and self importance have really hurt what wikileaks was supposed to be about. By all accounts the guy is a scumbag on a personal level and he is unjustly trying to use wikileaks as a shield.

True, but wouldn't it better rally the rest of the community to keep those offenders in line? If their harmful comments don't get upvotes, they lose their audience.

I'm really impressed with how this is coming along. The UI has a great feel to it. Playing with LT Playground makes me want to go back and give Clojure another shot. Very cool!

Nice. It's great to see how quickly an app.net development community has come today. I think it says a lot about the potential of the service.

I, for one, love seeing all the new companies launching - Hacker News feels like an even livelier more vibrant place this time of year. Keep 'em coming!

I don't see this ending well for them. Alienating the very developer base that helped them grow as a platform early on is a huge mistake. As an aside, I feel even better about backing App.net after seeing this news.

You're correct. My only point is that it is not enough of an issue here in the US that accumulating evidence to fire somebody is not a primary reason to institute performance reviews company-wide (in general).

In the US we have at will employment, so using performance reviews primarily for evidence to fire people is not going to something that is common.

I agree - if you could put this on the site, at least for your FlightFox sponsored contests, I think that would be pretty powerful marketing material.

So this is pretty cool and everything, but the frustrating thing for me is I would love to see the itineraries that won, but I keep getting greeted with a "only the contest owner can view flight details." I'd love to see this opened up - I

While its good to see a big Android supporter like Fred Wilson acknowledge the fragmentation issues, I think convincing any developers out there that this fragmentation is a good thing is going to be a really hard sell. Beyond just the OEM

Parse continues to impress with awesome tutorials. I wish all platform documentation was as well done! I'm not a Parse customer (yet) but tutorials like this are making me consider it if appropriate in upcoming projects.

Looks like somebody jumped the gun. This doesn't appear to be true - I was just able to post an imgur link without any trouble. Maybe the OP over at Reddit got hit by the same spam detection issue that was a problem for Scoble a while back?
