After a match this long, I would bet heavily that whoever wins will lose their next match. I wonder how much odds-makers will adjust odds in the next round because of this.

"In the UK, his books sold for $6 each; in America, they sold for $0.06 (or so)" I wonder how much this fun fact is skewed by the fact that the pound was worth way more than the cheap American paper money during the time (not to mention tha

Joking? I'll bite anyways... There has been myriad research detailing the adverse effects of children (aka developing humans) viewing violence, sex, drugs, etc. I think four year-olds safely qualify as developing. If stuff like this isn't a

There's nothing specific that says "negotiate this price" but I just email the people and see if they're open to it. Interestingly, there are a lot of things out there that don't seem negotiable at first, but you would be surprised how open

I've noticed this before when I've posted a comment that is otherwise receiving upvotes. I just chalk it up to "fat fingers" accidentally clicking the down arrow. It happens.

One of the things I love most about AirBnB is that a lot of the people advertising their space on the site are open for negotiation. So let's say Derek looks at this particular place's calendar and sees that in the recent past and in the ne

Under what circumstances would a company fail to IPO successfully? I'm assuming this would happen if they didn't create enough interest among investors to raise a specified threshold of money. Is my intuition correct?

Here's my quick review of the whiteyboard: After seeing the techcrunch review climb the HN front page a couple months back, I convinced my office to buy two of the 4' x 6' Berthas. I left the actual ordering up to my office manager. Five da

I'm not familiar with Clearwire, but perhaps another useful analogy would be the stock of Vonage, which IPO'd in 2007 at $13ish I believe. Vonage wasn't profitable up until last year and their stock is at $2.47 as of today's close.

What I quoted is after transaction costs. If I go off from Jan 1, 1998 when the S&P was 975.04 to Dec 31, 2009 when it was 1115.0, that means it has averaged 1.12% compounded annually.
