Not really socialist. It's just a giant imperial jobs program that also provides cover for channeling tax dollars into the coffers of the donor class.

This is pretty much one of Matt Levine's takes on all of crypto, and just the rampant financial speculation that has taken place in general since the beginning of 2020 - people bored and stuck at home are willing to throw away money to

Yes. I am not the fittest person, but I lift weights and read books. Both have definitely helped keep me sane over the past 2 years. I don't have a family and don't intend to though, so I have a lot more free time and less gener

Do Advent of Code. It's the first time I've been drawn into extracurricular programming in quite some time. It's been fun. They're bite sized problems and you're only committed as far as you want to be, and no la

I tend to agree. I sometimes fantasize that it were otherwise, but I don't think it's really possible to maintain a society of any size or sophistication without a state to do a lot of the fundamental things that keep things movi

Chartalism is more of an absolute. I don't claim that money has value only due to this reason, just that it is a significant component of the mass delusion.

Don't forget that whole pesky "have to pay taxes to the state in their chosen currency under threat of the state monopoly on violence" thing. It is somewhat touched on in your first sentence, but at the end of the day, if yo

A fairly good point. Modern adtech is kind of the induced demand of internet bandwidth - that is, when new bandwidth is available, adtech will grow to fill that bandwidth. I guess this is also analogous to the fact that our computers are

The Socialism and Capitalism dichotomy has nothing to do with markets or planners. Socialism is when the workers own the means of production. Capitalism is when there is an owner class that owns the means of production and extracts profit
