They're really more like...gas fees on the Ethereum chain, or spot electricity prices, I guess. It's a dynamically priced transaction fee based on instantaneous supply and demand. If you don't bid enough, you don't get

I definitely admire your optimism, I gotta say. It is very cool and is certainly able to produce some mind blowing artifacts, but it feels like it's going to absolutely obliterate some jobs and not really create too much new stuff. I

Me and my friends play long term board games on boardgamearea.com now. Ticket to Ride, Roll for the Galaxy, It's a Wonderful World, and more. We've usually got at least 2, sometimes many more, going at a time. It's a good t

We do, at least to my mind. It's called Mercurial. It's great, extremely close to git, but is much easier to use IMO. It's really a damn shame that git won - primarily, I think, due to the cachet of its author.

FWIW I graduated over a decade ago, and even non-capitalized, I interpreted the title correctly immediately. The fact that it was on HN and said "hard" let me take a damn good guess that it would be the NP SAT problem.

Unfortunately, domain experience is no panacea. Dealing with product people that don't understand technology but do understand the domain is equally as frustrating.

Capitalism and socialism are extremely broad descriptors of essentially who owns the means of production and to whom does surplus value flow. Neither necessitates a state nor do they prescribe anarchy.

This is pretty much the end result of capitalism - the atomization of the individual and alienation of workers from one another. All interactions and interpersonal relations are now mediated through our relations to the means of production

Not necessarily uniform across all time and space, but certainly in the roughly observable universe. Definitely in our local solar system.

This is insane. The UK seems completely unequipped for a bad faith actor of this magnitude. I'm a huge cryptoskeptic, but what this guy is doing is straight up evil . I hope you and everyone else come out relatively unscathed, and

That's okay, it requires some knowledge of rather niche economic philosophies. I'd suggest reading into some philosophy of property, labor, and ownership. Specifically in the right-libertarian and left-anarchist traditions. Sta

Maybe in theory, but functionally it is the same. You don't pay your property taxes, you get a lien, and can eventually, in extreme circumstances, be foreclosed on.

Fair enough. I have looked into this before and that exception has not come up before. Let's say roughly 99.7%+ of people, then.

Nobody in the US, and indeed most of the world, "owns" their property. Try not paying your property taxes, and see where that gets you. You lease the right to usus, mostly fructus, and to some extent abusus from the state.

Not just that, but presenting hierarchical as if it isn't a pre-SQL thing that Codd's model was attempting to fix and displace (and succeeded beyond his wildest dreams at doing so, I'd guess).
