Whether you are being serious or not, the Federal Government does not recognize Same Sex marriage (Defense of Marriage Act, I believe) and thus, it cannot be used for immigration purposes. Not to mention, seeing that the OP is already in ho

Sit in it and give it a shot. We did this a few jobs ago when we convinced management to buy good chairs for tech. We were surprised to find nobody in the office actually liked the Aerons. Personally, I found I wasn't a fan of the mesh b

I did a writeup, for what it's worth, on the new MapReduce output options: http://blog.evilmonkeylabs.com/2011/01/27/MongoDB-1_8-MapRed... (Disclaimer, I work for 10gen / MongoDB)

Depends on how deep you want to go. Lift is very "Scala-ey" and has some great features for building full applications - FourSquare is lift powered, by way of example. www.liftweb.net Play has Scala integration, but I don't know much about

Not sure what the comment was, they do say as earlier linked in the FAQ that they instruct Search Engines to ignore links. This I just found in the HTML for the linked supporters page: <meta name="ROBOTS" content="INDEX, NOFOL

I noticed that both examples of companies he didn't want to compete with talent for (Tumblr and Etsy) are NY companies, so I wasn't surprised to see his company is in Hoboken (just across the river from Manhattan). The reality of course is

While an interesting article which does a good job of breaking down the technical details AND citing industry, it doesn't seem to me the FCC is "Planning to destroy GPS". This sounds a lot more like the FCC not entirely understanding the ra

MongoDB uses btree indexes as well, it just doesn't use Map/Reduce for its regular querying like CouchDB does. See my above comment on differences as well as a writeup I did on new output options in MongoDB's M/R system.

Just some clarification here as comparing MongoDB and CouchDB's Map/Reduce is a bit of "Apples and Oranges" as they are designed for different purposes. While in CouchDB, all queries are created with Map/Reduce, in MongoDB Map/Reduce is des

Sorry, you don't. It's a leftover from an earlier attempt to do something different with dynamic. Your assumption is correct: It is already a string and there is no purpose to casting it to a String. I don't recall exactly where that artif

Last week I spent a little bit of time trying to figure out how the Dynamic trait works and what its good for. I managed to do a quick and dirty 5 minute mockup of a "Callable" Map that lets you invoke keys as method names: https://gist.gi

The sad part of the only lend once restriction that seems to be prevalent is that the most likely side effect of the 14 day loan is using it to get your friends or family hooked on a series. I just sent my sister a trial loan for the first

A lot of people are speculating if Amazon came up with these terms or not. From everything I can find (esp. this article - http://gizmodo.com/5388168/dont-get-too-excited-about-the-no... ) the restrictions on Kindle lending are identical
